Review: Victor Ruiz hails from Sao Paulo Brazil and in recent times has been a fixture on Thomas Schumacher's Electric Ballroom, in addition to releases on Great Stuff and Yoshitoshi. Here he continues his winning streak and appears for another esteemed Deutsch label; Senso Sounds run by the inimitable Oliver Huntemann. The track "Red Lights" is a dark and adrenalized stomper that gradually builds in tunneling fashion and draws you ever further into a vortex: mission accomplished! Up next on the remix is The Netherlands finest: Bart Skils, who in typical fashion delivers a furious peak time rendition that's heavy on the percussion and a seriously pulsating bass that's sure to set the dancefloor on fire, all the while retaining the moody atmosphere of Ruiz' original. Epic stuff right here!

Review: Oliver Huntemann's Senso Sounds label out Hamburg drops its best frequencies of the year for its annual round up. Large, heavy and progressive as f***, Andre Winter & Heerhorst go deep in "Time-Out", next to the likes of Marco Resmann, Citizen Kain and Timo Maas! The always groovy Timid Boy lands with the stripped back "The Force 2020" alongside Carlo Ruetz' synth heavy "Purple Sky" and Maksim Dark's bassline-centric "Energize". Huntemann himself turns in a minimal beat turned arpeggio-driven epic in "Tranquilizer 2.0" with Raul Facio, BOHO and Frankyeffe keeping it real with their stadium/club-ready numbers. Hats off the kick drum of "Maximizer". Sens-sational.

Matter of fact, It's harbour city sorrow all the way on 5Y, under adopted Hamburger Oliver Huntemann's careful curation - celebrating a a strong half decade in the business. Surrender to the void on label staple Andre Winter's sub bass snarler "Carte Noir", Maksim Dark from Russia truly signals the end of days on "Mega Pulse", Shaded who traded the sunny shores of Los Angeles for the black beach is on form with the slinky hypnotiser "I Got Haters" or trance out to the bleak mentalism of Carlo Ruetz' "Thunder" while Distale's "Hooka" will get your tunnel vision on with intoxicating style.

Review: Timo Maas has been busy lately, and this release on Senso follows a series of EPs in 2020. For this release on Oliver Huntemann's label, the veteran producer opts for a heads-down approach. The title track is a dark, pumping affair that is powered by an ominous bass and bleak synth lines that swirl to the surface. It makes for a mesmerising, rousing club track. On "Supercharger", Maas opts for a more stripped back approach; the rhythm and drums reverberate with more subtlety than force, but these elements underpin a throbbing low end percussive layers that build gradually into a wild crescendo.

Review: After appearances recently on Deeperfect and Resopal Schallware, French DJ/promoter/journalist/producer Damien Almira aka Timid Boy is back making his debut properf or Oliver Huntermann's ever reliable Senso Sounds. The Deviation EP features the tough rolling and moody funk of "Force 2020", plus the pounding peak time adrenaline of the title track and coming to a heady climax with "Never Enough" and its hands in the air party vibe. Groovier sounds than usually attributed to the label, and more quality tracks from the Time Has Changed boss.

Review: For the latest instalment in its Kontakt series, Senso is showcasing a collaborative effort between The YellowHeads, who run the Reload imprint, Detroit's Rebel Boy and Sam WOLFE. The result of this meeting of musical minds is an inspired two-tracker. The title track resounds to the kind of wobbling, ominous bass that has become the signature on Oliver Huntemann's label, and it is paired with epic synth builds and breathy vocal samples. Meanwhile, "Motor City" sees the production powerhouse opt for a somewhat different approach; while a pulverising bass is at the heart of the arrangement, the more atmospheric synths lend the track an added soulful dimension.

Review: Like previous instalments, the twelfth Senso Sounds split release delivers fresh techno from some of the scene's most talented new producers. Sinisa Tamamovic's "Sand" is a prime example of this innovation, as gritty analogue textures are teased out over dense kicks and steely hi hats. Neither Nor's "Mess" is powered by a similar aesthetic. At the heart of the arrangement is a dense, brooding bass, with mysterious tones unfolding against this back drop. Fabrication's "Blotter Spotter" doesn't deviate from the overall mood, but it is more club focused. Led by a warbling acid bass and jittery percussion, it completes this adventurous release.

Review: Helmed by veteran German DJ Oliver Huntemann out of harbour city of Hamburg , Senso Sounds is undoubtedly the go-to label at present for the more dramatic and brooding side of contemporary techno. We have heard strong evidence of this thanks to recent efforts by fellow countrymen Andre Winter, Carlo Ruetz and Distale - but it's now over to Los Angeleno Shaded. The man from Newport Beach is no stranger to the label, with several releases thus far in addition to great appearances for Rukus, Turbo and SCI+TEC. Prepare to surrender to the void upon hearing "Ripple" with its high octane and tunnelling aesthetic, while "Sumbody" goes full throttle with its hypnotic and adrenalised style of druggy groove.

Review: Having featured featured on labels like Great Stuff and Sci +Tec, Raul Facio now makes his debut on Senso. "Look At Me When I Think Of You" is a peak-time affair, led by rolling snares, wild acid builds and at its heart, a pumping low end. It's a frenetic affair, but the pace slows somewhat on the title track. There, the young American producer drops a low end that's as menacing as any of label owner Oliver Huntemann's own techy tracks. Remaining in a similar space on the last track Facio, fuses swirling, acrid filters with the kind of pulsating, snaking groove that will resonate at its namesake - "Amnesia".

Review: Senso Sounds is Oliver Huntemann's label for underground electronic music, based out of Hamburg and already racking up an impressive back catalogue of releases. Kickstarting a new series of EPs with exclusive tracks from various artists, Senso Sounds Level 01 ventures further into the abyss with four brand new killers from the roster. Starting off with boss man Huntemann and the brooding and adrenalised dancefloor drama of "Kamikaze", Denmark's Noir teams up with Brazilian Victor Ruiz on "I Am" (feat Cari Golden) and Italian Veerus delivers the druggy main room stomper "Mind Awake, Body Asleep". Finally Munich's Julian Wassermann serves up the EP's finest moment on with the devilish minimal tech house killer "Neurose" featuring the most razor sharp bassline you'll hear this year!

Review: Issued on his own Senso Sounds label, Rotlicht is a taster single for Oliver Huntemann's new album, Propaganda. It suggests that his fifth long player could be the German's best yet. Populated by shrieking sirens, morose, tone-shifting stabs and some of the most oppressive bass notes that electronic music can offer, the title track swaggers in a particularly menacing fashion. There is also a less intense interpretation from Raxon. Centring on a woozy, out there riff and a loose rhythm, it still contains a punch, albeit in a more tripped out manner. If you are looking for maximum impact though, stick with Huntemann's bruising original.

Review: Oliver Huntemann is one of the few electronic music artists with a unique sound. It's audible on his latest release, Poltergeist. On the title track, an oppressive bass swaggers and blusters its way over a rickety rhythm that breaks down before correcting itself. It almost feels as if the German producer's subs are overpowering the backing track, causing it to fracture. Russian producer Maksim Dark sounds like he was heavily influenced by Huntemann, but that doesn't stop him from delivering his own, distinct take on "Poltergeist". The rhythm is more linear and less complex, but again it's all about the bass that throbs and pounds relentlessly.

Review: Senso boss Oliver Huntemann is back with one of the label's most intense releases yet. "Nordpol" resounds to one of his typical growling basslines, but it's the building wave of electronic noise that will propel the track into the stratosphere. On the flip side, the German producer delivers a less dramatic but equally effective workout; building gradually, it moves from one of his typical bass-led grooves into a shrieking siren-led monster that keeps building and building, its intensity rising at every few bars. It's hard to imagine a more distinctive - and devastating techno record being released all year.

Review: Pioneer of the Bremen sound and mid noughties minimal techno legend is back. And what better moment than now given his trademark dark journey sound has come full circle, with producers like Mind Against reviving his and close associate Stephan Bodzin's unmistakeable aesthetic. First track "Pech" features dark and sinister atmospherics and ping pong delays, all supporting a massive wonky bassline that will prove to be a one way ticket towards dancefloor hysteria. "Scwefel" features an absolutely massive drop and white noise breakdown that soon gives way to a chugging and tunnelling groove, burning away slowly beneath a dreamy melody and razor sharp bassline. Massive!

Review: We can always count on Senso Sounds for some of that moody peak time techno, and label chief Oliver Huntemann's Propaganda Remixes will sure give you that fix. Originally released back in late 2017, the album still really packs a punch - and featured are these remixes by scene heroes like Fur Coat and Olivier Giacomotto - but it's the ones by label staples that are optimised for maximum dancefloor impact. From the tension and suspense of Andre Winter's brooding rendition of "Momentum" or Shaded's tunnelling and strobed-out Dark Stab remix of "Malaria" to Berlin veteran Marco Resmann's woozy and disorienting take on "Doppelgonger". Finally, the always reliable Distale's sustained and minimal re-execution of "Trick 17" takes it all the way to the edge. This collection of sonic weapons is surefire artillery for serious DJ use.

Review: Propaganda is Oliver Huntemann's fifth studio album, and sees him expand his sound and range over the course of 12 tracks, without losing his signature style. "Taktik" and "Poltergeist" see the German producer flirt with slower tempos, but the bass is so menacing on the latter track that its intensity is unstoppable. The pace picks up on the insane filtered builds and rolling snares of "Egoist", while recent single "Rotlicht" is classic Huntemann, all spiralling foghorns, insistent percussion and the darkest sub-bass this side of late-90s tech-step. Propaganda does contain some real surprises - like the down tempo sound scapes of "Anonym" - and the eerie electro of "Momentum", but its unifying theme are bass lines that are uniquely malevolent and multi-layered.

Review: Oliver Huntemann returns to his label with a release that explores familiar and unexpected themes. "Rotten 2.0" revisits his signature sound. Over a steely kicks and bleak synths, he drops a cavernous bass and a ponderous vocal sample. These elements come together to make for a classic Huntemann track - it's darkly evocative and menacing and shot through with a clubby aesthetic. Alex Stein's take on "Rotten" follows a similar path. Upping the pace, he deploys a throbbing bass to devastating effect. And then there's the original version of "Rotten". Set to a mid-tempo pace, it features a dystopian narrative about the future - sounding like Huntemann's own cyberpunk take on trip-hop.

Review: The eighth instalment of the Level series sees Senso bring together four tracks that sum up the label's ethos. Mehmet Ozbek's "Milky Way" sees a menacing, woozy bass, bursts of white noise and a series of breakdowns providing the backdrop for an eerie vocal narrative, while Eme Kulhnek's "Infinite" is more linear, with its tonal bleeps creating a coldly atmospheric sound. SEQU3L's "Frisbee" is a stripped back affair that's all about the rough, rugged bass at its centre, while in contrast Mork and Julien Riess' "Red Spade" is powered by doubled up claps and a series of drops that serve to accentuate its dramatic nature.

Review: Here's an interesting meeting of creative minds: Joran van Pol from the Netherlands runs the FADE label and has teamed up with Russian artist Maksim Dark for a joint release on Oliver Huntemann's label. As befits an EP on Senso, "Thrill" is based on a menacing bass that squelches and throbs seductively, while insistent percussion niggles away in the background. There's a similar aesthetic at play on "Trickle Down"; once again, ominous bass tones prevail, but on this occasion, they are fused with a ponderous vocal sample and white noise effects to create an insistent and darkly euphoric slice of techno noir.

Review: More harbour city sorrow from Hamburg's Senso Sounds, this time coming at you from Maksim Dark - and with a name like that why wouldn't he! The Berlin-based Russian has previously released on equally brooding techno imprints such as Sci+Tec, Octopus Recordings and Natura Viva, and returns to Oliver Huntemann's label to follow up to 2018's exceptional Movement EP. Continuing on with the same theme, Kinetics is a three track EP with every bit as much energy and attitude. From the sci-fi futurism of the moody title track, to the doom-laden aesthetics of "Chainsaw" which features the same penchant for razor sharp bass and spacey blips and blurps, and ending with the seething minimal techno workout "Believer".

Review: Russian producer Maksim Dark has fast become a staple of Oliver Huntemann's Senso Sounds, and he's back with more dark dancefloor drama on "Loud Rave" - the first single from his upcoming full length titled Insomnia. It's the same style of cerebral tunnel vision you've come to expect from him, packed full of slinky melodies, haunting vocals and clipped drum programming. The EP features two remixes from his label alumni: Andre Winter takes it down a peak time route full of strobing 303 acid madness with the added bang and clatter of furious 909 rhythm patterns, while Carlo Ruetz' version will properly elevate you with his style of banging main room euphoria.
