Review: With releases by Manni Dee, Dan White and Chairman Kato, Shaded Recordings is slowly becoming a label that demands attention. This is the third time Duct has appeared on the label, and this time the producer is give a healthy dose of remixes. This six-track EP sees two originals - the trippy "It's Jungle" and wonky "Love Without Forgiveness" - reworked by label mates Manni Dee, and Sieren while Flux takes on the former to create a gnarly club cut. Manni Dee delivers the EP some warehouse techno in his remix to the latter but it's Sieren 's broken beat techno take on "Love Without Forgiveness" which impresses most - that's if you don't like the stripped back classicalism of "Lament".

Review: With a breakout year that has seen two very well received singles land on Black Sun, Manni Dee rounds off 2013 with a single for London's Shapes imprint that further compounds the detail-rich production and crushing dynamism of his signature style. "Loop84" makes this point clear from the off, as a fractured dubstep rhythm plays host to all manner of percussive embellishments that lend an organic quality to the po-faced sub bass and industrial tones. "Objective Form" has a more frantic electro-techno collision in its DNA that keeps the beats firing at a breakneck pace while nervous rivulets of acid zap through the jagged landscape. "Red Paint On The Roses" opts for a more rigid 4/4 template but keeps the stylistic traits intact, before "Eroded Viewpoint" returns to that hectic salvo of drums and tones that fall in a snapping formation.

Review: With a burgeoning imprint behind them in the form of Shades Of Grey, Elson David debuts with the combined talents of Owen Howells and Duct, and it's clear from the opening tones of "God Bless" that they share a canny understanding of the modern machinations that make up prime time rave business. The crisp, digital sheen of their snapping beats move with the kinesis of techno while alluding to the bump and grind of garage, shot through with a fondness for crafty sample deployment and sharp edits. "The Awakening" wriggles its way into a more rubbery groove, largely defined by the acidic bassline, while "Woke" slips into a more jacking jaunt into 303 damage.

Review: Having previously set out his stall as a purveyor of intense, almost paranoid electronica via releases on Pictures Music and Awkward Movements, Chairman Kato continues his journey with an EP for Shades of Grey. The deliciously clandestine "A Void In You" continues where he left off, delivering dizzying late night electronica with a crack-addled pulse. The more uptempo "No Dice" is similarly queasy, seemingly teasing us towards a date in the woods with a red-eyed serial killer. The two-part "Yeah Your Right" tiptoes further toward techno territory, but still sounds the nightmarish vision of a particularly vivid imagination. It's odd, all right, but damn excellent.
