Review: Defining moments don't come much bigger for artists than debut albums and here's Rowney's first ever LP. At long last.zzzz Shadow Demon member, long-time representer and previous G13 label bossman, here he comes correct with this multi-flavoured 17 track beast that shows his true range and breadth. From the housey riff and squelchiness of the opening track 'So Good' through to the emotional and inspiring finale 'Better Late Than Never', this is the sound of an artist going in on every direction from every angle. Featuring collabs with the likes of Joely, Diligent Fingers, Kezman, Sammie Hall, Trigga and of course his Standard Procedure mates Toddlah and TNT, vibes flex from soulful to savage and switch at a flick of a bassline. Definitive.

Gonna Be Alright (feat Charla Green) - (4:26) 175 BPM
Review: Shadow Music are a recently minted label who seem to be doing all the right things, and this latest release is a monster of an EP from Shadre & Salvage. The title track is as foreboding as they come, almost to the extent that it's not quite dancefloor material, it's too brooding, too deeply terrifying and too fixated on being something itself, rather than making you dance. 'I See Through You' continues in that vein but steps up the synths a tad, whilst 'Steady Yourself' is an all out jump up banger. Sick.

Woah Yeah - (4:28) 175 BPM
Grunge - (4:30) 175 BPM
Mi Bredrin - (4:30) 175 BPM
Review: This EP from Zeba is aptly named - Shadow Demon - because that's exactly what it's trying to be, a demon in the night. There are no frills or gimmicks to be found here, just purely heavy dance music laid out over a range of different tempos and beat patterns. We especially love the jagged vibe of 'Woah Yeah', which feels torn out of a different dimension, yanked from its place for our distorted listening pleasure. There's more rhythmic creativity on 'Shoota', which takes the normally pacey drumline of jump up, slows it down and swings it out to create a naughty stepper that'll turn you on your head. 'Mi Bredrin' finishes things off with a final burst of momentum encapsulated in its spaceship of part-jump up, part-neuro dimensions. Brilliant.

Review: Trigga ain't messing around. He never has. But as he tags in with Abstrakt Sonance, things are even more serious than they ever have been. Following outings like 'Black Pearl' and 'Systematic Ruling' earlier this year comes another dark, deadly piece. Released on Shadow Demon, this one is Manchester to the core as Trigga analyses his rise over some mean and lean halftime vibes. Unhurried, tense and loaded with a message we can all identify with. Pull up.

So Good/Dun Them VIP
So Good - (4:37) 175 BPM
Dun Them VIP (feat Trigga) - (4:28) 175 BPM Hot
Review: The Shadow Demon imprint is notorious for delivering dancefloor dynamite time and time again, with this latest two track delight from Rowney being another perfect example of that. The pleasing vocal sampling and almost electro-inspired melodic plucks of 'So Good' give us a super high energy level right from the off. This is followed by the one and only Trigga getting involved with the 'Dun Dem' VIP mix, kicking off with a real dubwise introduction, leading into a combination of lethal synthesizer action with highly processed drum smashes, providing a super futuristic, distorted view of dancefloor flavour, amplified further of course by Trigga's immediately recognizable vocal pressure.

Drop That/24 Hours
Drop That - (4:24) 175 BPM Hot
24 Hours - (3:42) 175 BPM
Review: Phadix and Murdyer are on Shadow Demon for a single that sits comfortably on the intersection between lighter and darker bits, a nice concoction of influences that come together for wicked results. '24 Hours' is fresh and creative, with a skippy, Serum-esque drum line and warped out synth nodes that climb and fall in tandem with each other, forming a hypnotic main melody. 'Drop That' steps up on the flip and takes things into darker territory with a stripped back arrangement, greater focus on the drums and an even nastier back end. Big.

Review: Trigga is an MC on fire at the momentum, having featured on Bou's renowned tune 'Veteran', and this time around he's on Shadow Demon along with Abstrakt Sonance, and the pair have collaborated on a devilishly potent single. It's minimal yet cut through with jump flavours, and it's the balance of the two which will strike you most, it's not overbearing or screeching but balanced perfectly. It gives space for the vocals to breathe and Trigga is given room to really shine as an MC and the workload is split right down the middle. Big stuff.

Dun Dem
Dun Dem - (4:27) 175 BPM
Review: Coming out with the one-tracker, Rowney has teamed up with one of the hottest vocal acts in the field of heavy dnb right now - MC Trigga. The man is floating after teaming up for huge collabs with the likes of Bou and more, so it's unsurprising that he pulls out a stellar performance on this twisting, grinding slice of jump up dnb. Rowney never messes around and 'Dun Dem' is no different, its bouncing layers of synth offering everything you could ever want from a dancefloor tune. Big up Shadow Demon for the release.

Warm Up The Dance - (4:39) 175 BPM
Review: Rowney and Trigga - now there's a partnership you can set your watch by. Precision execution of the highest, most turbo-charged proportions, Rowney's beats are venomous as ever while Trigga takes to the foreground with cool restrained. "Empire Riddim" is a Mcallum-mashing shredder that will raise eyebrows and other limbs when dropped peaktime, "Dark Business" lives up to its name with little to no introduction necessary while "Like I Do" is a love letter to the beats and herbal accessories that keep us all out of trouble. Finally we have "Warm Up The Dance". Understatement of the year... This doesn't so much warm-up but rather completely coats in molten lava. Shadow!

Ducks & Ladders
Ducks & Ladders - (4:06) 175 BPM Hot
Nightwalker - (4:17) 174 BPM
Review: It's been a while since we last enjoyed the straight-up ruffage styles of Liz-E but the wait's been worth it... And it's come with a Trigga-sized stamp of Shadow Demon approval. Press play and hear why; "Ducks & Ladders" lives up to its quirky name with a sinewy bass riff, chop-slapping wooden block hits and an energy that will crunch in any mix scenario. "Nightwalker" takes more of a techier trip with Dimension style sweepers and pneumatic drums that could pummel a truck. Serious business.
