Review: Following years spent flitting between labels including Toy Tonics and Razor N Tape Reserve, COEO make their bow on Shall Not Fade. In keeping with the Bristol label's approach to digital releases, it's an expansive and action-packed affair. Title track 'Planet Earth' is one of the Munich-based duo's more forthright cuts to date - a thrusting, bongo-laden techno tempo rave workout propelled forwards by an insanely good (and rubbery) electronic bassline and psychedelic acid lines aplenty - while 'Satellite Bay' sounds like a cross between early '90s synth-pop, Kraftwerk and Euro-dance. Elsewhere, 'Rush Hour' gloriously joins the dots between hip-house, vintage MK productions and the Pet Shop Boys' Relentless' album; 'Kawasaki Racing Club' combines breakbeats and early UK progressive house sounds; and 'The Stage Is Yours' is a head-nodding, midtempo acid breaks affair.

Review: Shall Not Fade has reached the ripe old age of eight, a cause for celebration in these troubled times for artists and labels. To mark the occasion, the Bristol-based imprint has offered up this vast, 34-track compilation featuring new and unheard cuts from its ever-expanding family of artists. Naturally, it not only reflects Shall Not Fade's output, but also that of its various offshoots and series. So, there's plenty of high-grade deep house and immersive, breakbeat-driven deepness, but also surging, high-tempo rave-era nostalgia (see the tracks by TESTPRESS and Sheffield sorts Adelphi Music Factory), bassline (ABSOLUTE & HRSN), futurist techno (Marc Brauner), deep electro (Halo), hip-hop revivalism (Lydia Eisenbatter), progressive house and trance-influenced loveliness (MNL), and much more besides.

Review: Sometime Skint, Twin Tub and Hot Haus contributor ABSOLUTE makes his Shall Not Fade label debut via a five-track missive full-to bursting with energetic, mind-mangling club cuts. Bold electronic melodies, doom-laden 'Hoover' bass and breathless techno beats are the order of the day on 'Only Me', while 'In My Mind' wraps sharp, heavily edited rave riffs around another booming bassline and tribal techno drums. Title track 'Is It Raining In Berlin' sees him blend chunky house beats with deep bass and infectious melodic motifs, while 'So Good' is a booming, bassline-driven breakbeat house monster and 'Creeper' is a deep, ghostly and hypnotic house number that sprints along at a techno tempo.

Review: Sheffield sorts Adelphi Music Factory have previously proved adept at channeling 30-odd years of Steel City house heritage, with nods to U.S garage, gospel and deep house being fused with darker, heavier and more industrial-strength musical elements. They're at it again on Electric Arc Furnace, first paying tribute to a legendary Sheffield club night on the sweaty, loopy and party-hearty heaviness of 'Jive Turkey'), before bouncing through tactile disco-house territory on 'Rejoice With Me (I Need You)'. 'Sample Seduction' meanwhile is a piano and stab-heavy slab of warehouse-ready bedlam that would definitely have gone down well in Steel City nightclubs back in the '90s. Three extended club mixes are included to complete a very strong package.

Review: Shall Not Fade continues to offer-up high-quality material, including tons of label debuts, at a furious rate. Their latest EP- a first Shall Not Fade outing from 19-year-old French producer THEOS - is packed to the rafters with "no-filler, dancefloor-oriented house music". THEOS's trademark style is spacey and funky, effortlessly joining the dots between French touch, wide-eyed futurism and the groovy end of of Gallic tech-house. Amongst the highlights are breezy, piano-sporting treat 'Keep Creating Your World', the superb opener 'Lie Machine', the sub-heavy depth and jazzy synthesizer flourishes of Cosmonection hook-up 'Unusual Ego' and the warehouse-ready bounce of 'Livin' & Lovin'.

Review: Elation, nostalgia and melancholy have always been the driving emotional forces behind the high-grade lo-fi deep house works of Adam Ansley AKA DJ Poolboi. It's for this reason that Shall Not Fade has picked up Ansley for the debut release on the label's new Classic Cuts series, which focuses on "feel good sounds of all styles, with a nostalgic edge". The Austin-based producer has naturally hit the brief. Opener 'Ghosts' is a bluesy chunk of lo-fi jazz-house/deep house fusion, while the track that follows, 'Tu Tienes Mi Carazone', is a wonderfully tactile chunk of breakbeat-driven deep house. With its twinkling pianos, bongo-laced deep house grooves and heart-aching vibe, 'Elope' reminded us of old Aqua Bassino jams on F Communications, while 'Before You Go' is ultra-deep, smooth and spacey.

Review: As the title suggests, this dazzling EP is a trans-Atlantic collaboration between two genuine rising stars of house music: Colombian Felipe Gordon, and London's Cody Currie. Musically, the overriding theme of the EP is loose-limbed jazziness and the warming colour of jazz-funk, with the pair setting the tone via the ultra-deep broken beat vibes of 'Better Days' and the sparkling deep house/jazz-funk fusion of Ally McMahon hook-up 'Cold Nights'. 'Late Nights' is a cheery piano-house number laden with spacey synthesizer flourishes, while 'Our Love' is smooth and soulful deep house at its very best. The EP also includes a solo track from each, with Gordon's languid vocal deep house number 'I'm On Fire' being followed by Currie's bumpin' and bass-heavy 'No Future'. In a word: essential.

Review: While many labels have scaled back their release schedules due to the ongoing global pandemic, Shall Not Fade has done the opposite, delivering a higher-then-normal volume of top-quality releases. Their latest comes from Liverpool lads Matrefakt, whose label debut is as assured and impressive as their previous work on their own ATL imprint. Our pick of a very strong bunch is the driving, locked-in deep house-goes-techno stomp of "Almost As If", though the piano-heavy house retro-futurism of "State" and the acid-tinged "Act Accordingly" are almost as good. Also worth checking are "Keep The Faith", a throbbing and intoxicating vocal number that boasts some genuinely jazzy guitar samples, and Black Loops' loose-limbed (and surprisingly funky) accompanying rework.

Review: While Shall Not Fade has succeeded in part by building a roster of up-and-coming artists, the Bristol-based imprint is not shy of serving up an EP from a familiar favourite now and then - hence this label debut from sometime Freerange, Lost Palms and Let's Play House artist Demuja. There are five fine tracks to enjoy, from the squelchy bass and sustained chords of atmospheric deep house bumper "Do It", to the warm and rolling peak-time positivity of bustling EP closer "Tokyo". Elsewhere, we'd suggest checking the sublime chord progressions and bustling beats of "Can't Stop" (a track that rekindles memories of Deep Dish classic "Stay Gold") and the piano laden, pitched down bliss of EP highlight "Those Who".
