Review: Manchester's James Booth returns after some great releases on the likes of Church, 100% Silk and Nous but appears here for his new Share XL label with five servings of quality tech house. Starting out with the dark and tunnelling after hours groove of "Kruell", he then goes for the jugular on "Lax" with its tough and functional grayscale cyclicality. "Oil" goes for something much more soulful and emotive like second wave Chicago style tracks; we particularly enjoyed this one. But he saves the best for last on "Studd", yet another reduced and functional dancefloor exercise that relies on simple elements, hypnotic pads, bare bones rhythm arrangements and a bleep melody.. but executed quite effectively.
