Review: 2021 was a very lively year for Oxossi, who continued to establish himself as one of the most exciting 140 artists out there, constantly breaking down sonic boundaries with his expansive compositional style. This latest four track showcase of Silent Motion continues that theme, with the grizzly sonic storms and syncopated rhythms of 'Rollers' coupling with dizzying sub structures and dubbed out vocal slaps for a gnarly introduction. From here, the war-like horns and wonky synthesizer slides of '6 Under' give us a much more trippy sense of dubstep flavour, before we waltz into 'Kadian Dub', an LFO driven jig through unusual rhythmic bounces and catchy chord dabs. Finally, 'Couch Dub' gives us a horror-influenced dubwise experience, with goofy organ leads and aquatic atmospheric designs giving us a solid outro track. Lovely work!
Review: Silent Motion have struck absolute gold with this latest box of tricks from Dalek One, who unleashes four lethal originals, kicking off with the title track 'Mask & Glock'. This one is a grizzly roller jam-packed with gnarly LFO energy, constantly shifting its energies between different synthesizer sounds to give the whole track a constantly shifting feel, before the stuttered rhythms and organic sounding percussive thwacks of 'Mind Of A Criminal' give us something a little more stripped back. Next, the twisted distortion and speaker-busting bass sounds and grizzly melodic textures of 'Red Dots' give us a lurch towards the unpredictable, before Pharma joins the party on 'Blood' for a super syncopated final dance. The consistency with which Dalek One has been able to pump out bangers in 2021 is nothing short of mindblowing and this would be a fabulous way to round off the year if it proves to be his last release before 2022.
Review: Silent Motion have gone out of their way to deliver us an absolute gem with this one as we hear Ramsez deliver a spicy array of newschool dubstep heaters. We begin with 'Hexagons', a worthy title track doused in liquidized LFO warbles and potent drum pushes, giving us a lively lift off. Next, Roklem & Sebalo give the track a heavyweight overhaul, dripping in their unique bass designs before moving onto the lethal drum skips and gnarly 808 drones of 'Moodswingz' which throws the EP into a completely different avenue. Finally, DayZero arrives to give 'Mood' a tasty lick of paint, focussing on otherworldly style synth slides and a generally alien set of textures to give us a tidy closer.
Review: Last year we saw the pairing of Sebalo & Roklem cause some serious damage in the 140 sphere, constantly supplying the scene with incredible releases throughout the entirety of the year. It appears they look to continue the trend this year as they lend on Silent Motion immediately with four powerful stompers, kicking off with the swirling jerks and warbling subs of the title track 'March Of Waves', alongside the organic drum structures and blipping synths of 'Stuck'. The pair then move into solo originals, with Roklem providing some dungeon-ready flavours in 'Confused' and Sebalo proving a more subtle set of sub structures and stuttered drum layers on 'Dimensions'.
Review: We love to receive new dubstep releases here at JunoDownload, especially given the current quality levels of the more steppers-side of the genre. This latest drop from Silent Motion pays homage to that as Alienmade lands with a heavyweight four track selection, kicking off with the irresistible sub pressures of the title track 'No Fks Given' and spooky textures of 'We Are Coming' close behind. Next up, Kodama joins the party on the distorted bass shifts of 'Sound Business', before 3WA gets involved on remix duy, refixing this one into a more intense, high energy roller. Excellent work!
Review: One thing we are absolutely loving about the dubstep scene at the moment is its expansion into new areas of world music, with this new project from Fill Spectre being a perfect example of how to do it well. We take a look first at the fantastic title track 'Africana', which combines classic, authentic African vocal choir samples with smooth percussive lines beautifully, before we dip into the blipping marimba like drums of 'Fire Dance'. Next we check out the more high tempo drum work of 'Giganta Bunda' before we finish off our journey through this wicked project with a taste of 'Jukebox Scat', a track which slows down footwork style drums and tops them with grizzly synthesizers and bubbly pads for a perfect outro.
Review: If there's one thing we really really love at JunoDownload, it's a perfectly structured dubstep project, which we feel this collaboration between Barrett and the Silent Motion has delivered with major finesse. We kick this one off with the dubwise stylings of the title track 'No Mercy', driven by it's natural sounding drum work and subtle sub movements. We then take a brief look into the stunning electronic soundscape designs of 'Antichrist', before leaping into the grizzly grinding bass tones of 'Amnesia' alongside the weighty force of 'Bingleton'. Finally, we wrap the project up in style as we stumble across the super syncopated percussive pressure and spacey expanses of 'Warrior Dub'.
Review: Across the broad spectrum that is 140 music, Fill Spectre has been making a bit of a name for himself through his super original compositional style. This brand new EP strolls down a more dubstep direction, with all five tracks proving to be as powerful as the last. We kick off with the bubbly electronics of "Phobos Anomaly", laced with aquatic textures and crumbly percussion. From here we dive into the grinding bass synths of "Flaccid Existence" and the spacey atmospherics of "Ghostly Marinade". Next up we have the ghostly design of "Split Karma" before rolling out the title track "Radical" which is a tripletted ball of steppers flavour. Overall this EP has something for everyone.
