Review: Insulate is the debut release on Canadian label Slivers and it captures that distinctively spaced out house sound that has flowed steadily from its home country in recent years. "Stage One" and "Montrose Alley" set the tone for the diverse, musical sound, with a glitch-laden piece of chiming ambient and gentle piano unfolding over tight break beats respectively. Meanwhile, "In Power" is a low-slung house groove. It's followed by "Insulate" and "Nova Guest", which both see Sergio SP pick up the pace, dropping repetitive vocal samples, funk bass and mesmerising chords. Finally on "Clouded", Sergio reverts to a deeper sound, with spacey filters set to a steely rhythm.
