Review: Italian producers M.F.S: Observatory (Observatory Music/Little Helpers/Be One) return with more of their passionate and synth heavy house tracks for Smiley Fingers - an independent record label based in London run by Larry Cadge. This is another expressive EP from this esteemed combination: from the uplifting and emotive classic house of "Belly Of Biased Beast", to the Todd Terry influenced rhythms of "Cut Me" or the hypnotic tribal house journey of "Amev"- all in all great stuff from the boys from Vesuvius. Mattia Turchetti & Francesco Cozzolino are the backbone of M.F.S: Observatory, whose skills have been improved with years of cooperation, sharing the same dream.
Review: In 2010, Larry Cadge founded Smiley Fingers, an independent house and techno record label based in London but operating on a global level. He's no newbie to this game and is a popular selection for those in the know. Cadge returns to his label with another cracking release titled "Aquanaut" - a deep and seductive tech house groove that's perfect tackle to create a vibe in the early evening. This is followed up with the rather thumping Dub mix, which hammers the message home in bass-driven fashion, accompanied by steely hi-hats and sparse metallic textures for added intensity
Review: London label Smiley Fingers has signed up an artist with a difference for its latest release. Hathor Libra, real name Cristian Comes, is inspired as much by IDM and techno as he is by deep house. This melange is audible on "Reconditum", where light melodies and tingling percussion are underpinned by a growling, frazzled bass. On "Stratos", the Italian producer also deploys a powerful bass, but on this occasion, it swaggers menacingly as it is accompanied by cold melodies. The title track offers further surprises: Comes again looks to use a pumping low end, but it's the eerie hooks, epic builds and unpredictable break downs that really impress.
