It's Haaaat EP
From The Roots - (5:54) 130 BPM
House Gang - (5:54) 130 BPM
It's Haaaat EP - (5:23) 131 BPM Hot
Review: Columbian producer Ciclo returns to Snatch! with three stonking club cuts in a fairly 'traditional' house vein (and that's definitely not a complaint, BTW). Opener 'From The Roots' tops a solid rolling backbeat and M1-ish organ parps with the acapella of Kings Of Tomorrow's 'So Alive' (as also sampled by Kanye West for 'Low Lights'). The slightly pacier 'House Of Gang' is a rollicking little disco-houser with an energy-infusing walking bassline, almost Wild Pitch-y stabs and a full female vocal, while finally 'It's Haaaat' itself is a chunkier affair with a cut-up, Sneak-y kinda feel. Three very solid bullets for your Saturday night disco machine gun!

Housewerk EP
Essence Of House - (5:41) 128 BPM Hot
Work The Klubb - (7:19) 127 BPM
Review: St David's previous EP on Snatch!, 2023's Hardgrooves EP, drew great inspiration from muscular, sub-heavy house jams from the late 1990s - the kind of sweat-soaked fare that recalled the pioneering sets of Tony De Vit and the contemporaneous work of New York and Miami's tribal house set. This sequel is similarly minded but dustier, deeper and darker, coming on like a tribute to Sound Factory era Junior Vasquez and Deep Dish's works on Tribal America. Check first 'Essence of House', where a female spoken word vocal musing on house history rises above thumping house beats, mind-mangling bass, trippy effects and starry synth sounds. St David bumps up the bass and tribal house flavours on 'Work The Club', a surging and body-shaking affair that sounds like a peak-time anthem in the making.

Keep On Rockin'
Let's Talk - (6:19) 127 BPM
Keep On Rockin' - (7:24) 127 BPM
Get Movin' - (6:33) 126 BPM Hot
Played by: The Checkup, St. David
Review: Straddling any theoretical house and garage divide, The Checkup's distinctive brand of dancefloor medicine has found a home on such respected labels as Large, Simma Black, Beef, Champion and Snatch!, and here he returns to the latter with three more very welcome doses. 'Let's Talk' tops a bumpin' garage beat and Jersey-esque piano stabs with a familiar-sounding spoken female vocal, 'Keep On Rockin' is a deep 'n' groovy house roller with chords to die for and diva vox, while finally 'Get Movin' has a rougher-edged, Madhouse-esque feel and more full-lunged female vocal action. If vintage NY/NJ house and garage are what floats your boat, this EP's an absolute must.

Diego Cardarelli - "Organ Jordan" - (7:18) 127 BPM
Ciclo - "Groove Is Back" - (5:35) 129 BPM
Fabio Ferro - "I Have Some" - (6:10) 125 BPM
Sebastian Xottelo - "Trick Trick" - (6:57) 127 BPM Hot
CRIBB - "We Know" - (6:53) 130 BPM
Review: Riva Starr's label comes good with another fine split release. With a focus on minimal house, Volume 2 has enough range and diversity to keep even the most discerning DJ engaged. Sebastian Xottelo's "Trick Trick" integrates creaking percussion and crackling electronic riffs into its rolling rhythm. Chicago influences bubble to the surface on Fabio Ferro's "I Have Some". Led by an insistent groove and peppered with disco samples and organ stabs, it's redolent of classic DJ Sneak. And for those who like minimal with dubbed out influences, the walking bass and trippy vocals of Diego Cardarelli's "Organ Jordan" is the track of choice on this EP.

A Long Journey
A Long Journey (original mix) - (6:45) 126 BPM Hot
A Long Journey (Mark Broom Tribe remix) - (4:32) 141 BPM
A Long Journey (Mark Broom remix) - (4:45) 128 BPM
Review: Milan native Fabio Vela comes to Riva Starr's Snatch! Imprint with some very solid tuff, eyes-down grooves. In its Original form, 'A Long Journey' is a chugging, bottom-heavy tech-houser with a distinctive spoken "in a few moments, you will have an experience that will feel completely real" vocal. UK techno legend Mark Broom then steps ups with a brace of remixes, his Tribe Remix ramping up the BPM considerably and taking the track onto darker, more energetic floors while his Remix stays closer to the spirit of the original but adds a healthy dose of acid and some fine Detroitian keys.

Da Learning EP
Da Learning - (6:50) 127 BPM
Fun - (5:37) 126 BPM
Hypnotized - (6:06) 132 BPM Hot
Review: Orlando Voorn is a true don: when he speaks, house dancefloors listen, and these three new cuts are merely the latest proof. 'Da Learning' itself is a dense, shuffly affair that takes quite an old-school approach in its use of cut-up vocal loops (and indeed loops generally). S'good, but the other two are even better: 'Fun' is big, bouncy and strutty, marrying two very familiar vocal samples to some seriously squelchy bottom end, while 'Hypnotized' proves that you can go a long way with a Belgian techno bassline and a Loose Joints vocal bite even if it IS now 2023, not 1991! Dancing will most definitely ensue.

Hi On Ya Luv EP
Hi On Ya Luv - (5:19) 127 BPM Hot
How Low Can You Go - (5:37) 128 BPM
Review: Glasgow lad Tiptoes pulls a couple of crackers out of the hat for this latest offering on Riva Starr's Snatch!. 'Hi On Ya Luv' itself brings the mid-90s garage flava: if you'd told me this came out on Nice N' Ripe in 1995 (or maybe even Nervous in 1992) I'd totally have believed you, and as such it's an essential purchase for all those keeping the garage fires burning. The accompanying 'How Low Can You Go', meanwhile, treads a more funk/soul-oriented path with sampled jazz horns, a relentlessly pounding backbeat and a male voice asking "How low can you go?", and will inject energy into any floor.

Jus Dance EP
Silk - (8:34) 124 BPM Hot
Jus Dance - (6:43) 127 BPM
Feel - (6:27) 127 BPM
Review: Frank Heinrich has been releasing music as Reboot for 16 years, notching up releases on such admired imprints as Cocoon, Get Physical, Cadenza, Circus and, most recently, Cecile Recordings. Here he delivers his first missive of 2023 via a Snatch! Raw label debut. He begins in forthright, peak-time ready style via the continual tease, build and release brilliance of 'Silk', where classic vocal snippets, moody loops and fizzing effects rise above a deep, weighty bassline and restless house beats. He flips the script on 'Jus Dance', a similarly sub-heavy shuffle through 21st century beatbox electro with a subtle tech-house twist, before opting for a DJ Sneak-influenced bumping deep house sound on sweat-soaked closing cut 'Feel'.

Gotta Have You - (5:21) 126 BPM
Review: Riva Starr and Mark Broom are both huge names in their respective scenes, but put them together and they've got real Star potential. Star B potential that is, the name of their collaborative project which debuted in 2020 returns with an incendiary fusion of house, disco and techno! Pumping up two recognisable dance classics for today's Ibiza inspired dancefloor - "Fire" looks to early-2000s Hed Kandi compilation gold, with "Gotta Have You" full of '70s disco flex and modern day techno heat. Hi-hats for days.

Find Your Strength In The Sound
Find Your Strength In The Sound - (6:01) 128 BPM
I Want You To - (6:15) 126 BPM Hot
Review: Although he still makes occasional outings on larger independent labels - think Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels, Dirtybird and Defected's DFTD offshoot - Riva Starr saves most of his most colossal cuts for the Snatch label he set up at the dawn of the last decade. Predictably, the two tracks showcased on his latest single for his label are typically big, bold and peak-time ready. He hits the ground running with 'Find Your Strenth in the Sound', where tight acid lines, horn samples and warehouse-ready riffs ride a deep, booming bassline and tough-as-teak drums. He moves further towards a revivalist, Derrick Carter-friendly "boompty" house sound on 'I Want You To', a deeper and hazier but no less weighty early morning workout that comes complete with impassioned spoken word snippets and restless percussion fills.

Review: Snatch! loves to showcase new talents, it always did and will always do. Now label chief Riva Starr presents the first edition of SNATCH! Playground, a new series of EPs that do exactly that. There's tough rolling tech house for the main room by Fourth Phase on "Dancin Like We Never", while Stefano Kosa provides stompin' and swing-fuelled business on "Systematic", Davide T caters to the heads-down moments on "Classic Breakdown" and La Madone's druggy "Bounce" goes strictly rhythmic.

Hardgrooves EP
Feel Da Groove (original mix) - (7:12) 126 BPM
Do Me (Peak Time Hour mix) - (5:31) 128 BPM
Bonus Beez (original mix) - (4:38) 126 BPM Hot
Review: There's been a bit of talk in the media of late about a "hardgroove" revival, meaning that blistering and brain-melting take on techno popular in the late 1990s. The "hardgrooves" showcased on this EP from rising star Davide Disanto are not acid-fired techno tracks, but rather funky-but-stomping house jams that recall mid-90s hard house (think Trade rather than Tidy Trax) and the breathless brilliance of Junior Vasquez's Sound Factory era productions. Our pick of the bunch is the piano-laden, sub-heavy weight of 'Do Me (Peak Time Hour Mix)', which makes great use of sampled and snipped diva vocal snippets, but there's plenty to get the blood pumping elsewhere on the EP. 'Bonuz Beez' is a thunderous, acid-fired drum jam, while 'Feel Da Groove' is hard-wired house-funk for dark rooms and sweat-soaked warehouses.

Review: Label head honcho Riva Starr has tapped an all-star cast for the latest release on Snatch! All have the honour of remixing Josh Butler & Illyus & Barrientos' dancefloor smash from last year "Mic Rock" - and they do not at all disappoint. First up is San Diego's Harvard Bass who serves up a jacking and grooving rendition in his typically bass driven style, while Amsterdam's Mike Scot brings that main room tech house sound with pure style. Finally, Glasgow's Tiptoes delivers a re-rub that's aimed squarely at the peak time dancefloor and sure to up the energy levels.

House Massive (feat MC GQ - Johannes Albert extended remix) - (5:03) 128 BPM Hot
House Massive (feat MC GQ - Gaetano Parisio SouthSoul remix) - (5:30) 133 BPM
Review: Mark Broom and Riva Starr's recent two-tracker as Star B, 'House Sound', has been given the remix treatment. The results are predictably impressive. To kick things off, Rob and Lyric Hood don their popular Floorplan alias to re-make 'House Sound', brilliantly re-imagining it as a dense, intense, mind-altering techno workout that makes merry with pulsating, restless bass, whistle sounds, delay-laden percussion hits and big piano riffs. It's followed by two takes on 'House Massive' featuring MC GQ: a bouncy, Inner City-inspired, warehouse-ready affair courtesy of Johannes Albert and a booming, breathless, tribal techno style tweak by Gaetano Paraiso of SouthSoul.

Review: Genghis Clan is another alias of the mighty Riva Starr who after releases for Dirtybird, Simma Black and This Ain't Bristol in the past is back on his very own Snatch! label here. He delivers two brand new cuts on this one: "I Am Brotherhood" is an expansive jam featuring one seriously bombastic bass and steely rhythms, supported by an enlightened vocal mantra. Second offering "Outta Control' is equally large but more minimalist but with a tough, boompty swagger throughout that's suitable for the warm-up or afterhours alike.

With Riva Starr adding a small cut up technique to the bebop skat style hats of Holligan's jazz style, flashed of strings dance with filtered house synths and a skipping groove in the disco entwined "Scat Dub". Review: 2020 is likely to go down in history as the year with a summer that never was, but Snatch! is making up for it with this fine four-tracker. First up is Ant LaRock with the techy "HMANL"; peppered with repetitive vocal snatches and powered by tight percussion, it's an irresistibly deep but driving track. Federico Grazzini and Frank Storm's "Otto" is in a similar vein, with deep synths and brittle percussion underpinning robust drums and a stop-start arrangement. Wolfire's "Wanna Do" is more tracky and stripped back, with a focus on dense kicks and looped vocal sample, while this hugely enjoyable summer selection concludes with the rolling, sample-heavy tech-house of "Cold Mind" from Lessone

Since relocating to London, they have set up their own label Bamboleo, in addition to appearing on Decay and Moan in recent times. Review: Riva Starr's Snatch! celebrate 10 years in the game in 2020, and this collection rounds up the best of their output over the latter half of that first decade. Tuff, chuggy tech-house is, unsurprisingly, the dominant sound here, but it's by no means all that's on offer - Rogue D flirts with 80s boogie on 'Take It Easy', for instance, while Soul Speech loops up Heatwave's 'Boogie Nights' on 'Soul Speech'. With tracks from the heavy-hitting likes of Max Chapman, Darius Syrossian, Steve Bug, Groove Armada, Wade and Denis Cruz, and cheeky reworks of classics like 'My Beat' and 'Pride (A Deeper Love)', there's useful ammunition here for house jocks of many different micro-persuasions.

"How We Live" is a deep, funky and groovy tech house jam that's perfectly geared for late night dancefloors and featuring G-Tech's moody and frantic vocal delivery. Feel My Butterfly (DJ Krime's Reconstruction remix) - (6:34) 132 BPM
Review: Nina Kraviz' passion for ghetto is well documented, and she previously remixed a Mitchell track back in 2014. This time the pair have come together to co-produce this EP, which is a taster for a Dance Mania project on Snatch. The original 'ghetto acid' version of "Butterfly" sees the pair unite androgynous vocals and a primal ghetto rhythm track with that other great Chicago sound, the 303, to create a wigged out but insistent banger. The label has recruited the fast-rising DJ Krime to rework the original, and in his hands it turns into a murky, stepping affair.

Changed My Life - (5:30) 124 BPM Hot
Dreamin' - (5:43) 124 BPM
Review: Tom Bug hails from Zagreb in Croatia, where he heads up the Dobar House label. Here, though, he comes to Riva Starr's much-loved Snatch! with two high-quality cuts that will delight lovers of more 'traditional' house styles. With its big, stabby chords and diva wails, 'Changed My Life' itself pays homage to NY/NJ house and garage of the early 90s - albeit the spoken male vocal that plays over the top, discussing the legacy of clubs like Paradise Garage and The Loft, is a more contemporary touch. Snatch OFF 052
Fly It Off - (5:41) 125 BPM Hot
Terrace Paranoid - (5:28) 126 BPM
Review: Hector Couto presents the latest release on Snatch! Records. OFF 052 sees the Spanish producer that has affiliations with Sola, Elrow and Hot Creations continue on with his tough rolling tech house sound - that's aimed squarely at the main room at peak time. This is evident straight off the bat with his new heavy hitter "Fly It Off" cracking on with it in dirty, funky bass-driven fashion. This is followed up by the fierce tribal polyrhythms of "Terrace Paranoid" locking you into the groove via its array of congas and bongos (and an Ice T sounding sample!) making for a perfect DJ tool that will appeal to all the serious DJs out there.

Limbo - (6:38) 126 BPM
Review: Sorley Hails from the north east, Sunderland to be precise, and his DJ career first began when founding club night Haze in his hometown. Over the past year, he has dedicated his time to the studio experimenting, tweaking and cementing that ever illustrious signature sound and that work has certainly paid off here - in the form of his debut release on Riva Starr's respected Snatch! Records. Get down to the dirty, late night acid bounce of "She Freeks" followed by the minimal backroom dub of "Limbo" featuring some irresistible diva vocals for added measure.

I'm Burnt EP
I'm Burnt - (5:32) 123 BPM
Try - (5:43) 124 BPM Hot
Played by: David Penn
Review: Snatch! head honcho Riva Starr reckons that If you've been at one of his gigs over the last six months, chances are you've heard this absolute belter of a tune. The Deepshakerz are comprised of Bari-based Mirco Sonatore & Domenico Berardino who return to the label after last year's debut "Rush" with Mikey V - and following up killer jams on DFTD, Simma Black and Cajual. Features the deep and sleazy tribal funk of "I'm Burnt" and the sexy dancelolor raindance of "Try" led by its sultry vocals. Both cuts are reminiscent of that golden era at the turn of the millenium: when Junior Vasquez reigned supreme at his legendary residency at Twilo, right before Steve Lawler discovered it and took the sound back to the UK - and making history.

Review: Riva Starr & Co. return with some more dirty house shenanigans on the third installment in their In House series, featuring half a dozen stars of the global house/tech-house scene. Milan's Stefano Kosa (Deeperfect/Fusion) serves up the funky "Last Call", it's a jazzy and boompty kinda something on London based Ramin Rezaie's "Werkin'", Italy's Greeko serves up the most uplifting chord progression you'll hear this year on the emotive "Boreal" and Parisian Kashovski (Total Freedom/Witty Tunes) gets deep down and dirty on the bass heavy raindance of "Shafin".

Review: Riva Starr's revered imprint is back with the best in tough rolling and funky tech house on the twelfth edition of Raw Cuts. From the raw jacking minimal antics of Catchment's "Overcomplete", Horatio takes his cues from the classic Robert Hood/M-Plant sound on the hypnotic "Viva La Revolucion", Wade gets into the UK tech house sound of now on the rolling "Until Dawn" and London based Italian Andrea Giudice takes the best of speed garage and Chicago acid on the rough 'n ready "My Turf".

The Magnificent EP
Looking Back - (5:32) 128 BPM Hot
Magnificent - (5:46) 128 BPM
Review: Next up on Riva Starr's ever reliable Snatch! imprint is American legend Junior Sanchez, who follows up a terrific run of releases on top labels recently such as Robsoul, Relief and Armada Subjekt. The man from New York City throws down a deep down and dirty expression in funky house that's more suited to heads down moments in the back room on the dubby "Looking Back" while second offering "Magnificent" is equally on the stripped back, bass driven and DJ oriented groove business. His one is reminiscent of Subliminal and Defected B sides from the turn of the millenium - capturing the zeitgeist of a golden era of house music that this veteran certainly was part of.

Pop Ya Cork (Technasia dub remix) - (7:00) 127 BPM
Review: Some of you probably know about Riva Starr's past as a breakbeat producer under the name of Madox. Well, at the time, one of the dirtiest tracks ever produced came in the form of "Pop Ya Cork" by London's Stanton Warriors. The Snatch! Records boss thought it was about time to bring it back to life with Technasia main man Charles Siegling on the remix job. The Frenchman's main remix is a funky and tough rolling tech house tool for the main room, while the dub remix is more stripped back and bass driven for functional use.

Ahh Umm EP
Ahh Umm (original mix) - (5:45) 123 BPM Hot
Ahh Umm (Harry Romero remix) - (5:57) 124 BPM
Review: ATFC is the long-running pseudonym for Aydin Hasirci, one of the UK's most experienced house producers. Having scored a huge hit at the tail end of the 90s with "In and Out of My Life", he has remained very much in the same style, putting out vocal house on labels like Toolroom and Defected. Hasirci's latest venture is on Riva Starr's label and is more reflective of its tech-house sound. The title track fuses a time-stretched double bass with a soulful vocal and insistent, hollowed out drums to create a distinctive house track. Meanwhile, Harry Romero adds a techy flavour on his remix, adding moody chord sequences and big break downs into the mix.

Nico Cabeza - "1990" - (7:31) 124 BPM

Review: Everyone's favourite house hooligan Riva Starr presents more main room tech house for the peak time, on volume two of his new In House series. Beginning with the fiercely rolling attitude of "S.T.O.P." by London's Cassimm followed by "Isolationx12" by Spain's' Odd People - a euphoric and atmospheric prog-house epic on the harder tip. For more classic old-school house flavour, you can't go wrong with Nico Cabeza's fittingly titled '1990" while Lexlay's "Speakers" hammers the message home in style - in what can only described as classic Snatch! material.

Ease The Pain EP
Africana - (6:29) 125 BPM
Ease The Pain - (7:54) 123 BPM Hot
Review: Started as a duo with Danny Minchella, Flashmob is currently led only by Alessandro Magnani. Founder of Flashmob LTD: a top label that has signed the likes of Marco Dionigi, Terranova and Julien Sandre in recent times. His new explosive offering "Ease The Pain" is for fellow Italian in London Riva Starr and his always impressive Snatch! imprint. The funky/booming roll and shuffle of "Africana" features catchy West African vocal chants over druggy loops and a relentless groove. But that's nothing on the title track: this slamming, tunnelling and hypnotic jam for the pre-peak time has a sonic aesthetic which sits somewhere between the sounds of Drumcode and Saved: slightly industrial edged but still funky enough to get some hands up in the air. Starr's imprint has been running strong on seven years now and this year has been particularly impressive: with releases by Chicago legends Green Velvet and Gene Farris, in addition to great ones by rising star Mele and the return of the Italoboyz.

Brett Gould, Hilton Caswell - "No More Games" - (7:19) 123 BPM
Review: London-based Brett Gould returns to Riva Starr's Snatch! label with two killer house cuts ready for the killing! "Believe" is a solid, bass-driven banger that pulsates its way through the groove with a ferocious swarm of bleeps that takes us back to the golden era of tech-house; that is, when people were actually making music instead of tiresome loops. Check Shyam P on the vocals, too. The artist teams up with Hilton Caswell for "No More Games", another deep and meandering burner or a track full of hypnotic zest, and what will surely make for a much welcomed rave anthem!

This time it's for Riva Starr's Snatch! with three tough rolling cuts with the main room at peak time in mind. Starting off with the swing fuelled stomper that is "Fugazi Land" while "Moon Buggy" gets more techy on you and with a monster bassline: all after the big drop of course! Review: Snatch! is Riva Starr's first label project and the aim behind it is to push new talents and well established forward thinking producers. Expect slamming fresh house cuts from some of the most exciting talent in the scene. For its 89th edition, he presents a collaboration with Spanish tech house hero and Chicago deep house legend Gene Farris on the druggy and rolling mani room tech house of "Play" which absolutely reeks of White Isle hedonism this Summer. Second offering "A Jem Be" is much more deep and rhythmic with its sexy latin influence that is perfect to the set the mood early on the terrace on a Sunday afternoon before launching into the harder stuff.

Review: Riva Starr's label Snatch! is a relatively fledging operation, starting mere months ago. However it's made a weighty impression already with some boss releases. The latest offering is this multi-artist release, In House Vol 1, with highlights including the utterly nasty, deep after-hours grind "Deadloop" by Ruben Mandolini, which utterly in ecstasy pads and touch feely sensations. Elsewhere "Dope" by Oliver & Oliver offers a warm, meaty house thumper and "House Is A Feeling" by Sasa Do Toma, which features a hammeringly brutal kick, laser effects and hypnotic percussion.
