Laganga Feat. Faytinga (feat Faytinga - Rodrigo Gallardo remix) - (6:25) 105 BPM
Review: Fresh from an exotic, otherworldly outing on Camel Riders - the Arabic tech-house squelch of 'Lari Plays Guitar' -Laroz pitches up on Sol Selectas with some heady, off-kilter house. The star attraction is arguably 'Miombo', a bouncy fusion of tech-tinged Afro-house and warped, wild synthesizer lines that once again showcases his ability to utilise underused synth sounds and rubbery rhythms. Sam Shure provides the accompanying remix, peppering a slipped Afro-house groove with a wealth of cowbell sounds and wayward synthesizer motifs. Elsewhere, 'Laganga' is a deeper, dreamier and smoother take on tech-house/Afro-house fusion, while Rodrigo Gallardo's remix of that track is a gentle tropical house treat.

Through The Valley (KEENE remix) - (6:25) 121 BPM Hot
Review: Two tracks, four mixes and two very different stories here. Zuma Dionys is a producer from St Petersburg, Russia who calls his sound "progressive ethno electronic" - a label that works a lot better than "deep house" when it comes to describing the chugging, midtempo, globally-inspired electronica of the two originals here! So for the purposes of this page it's really up to the remixes to do the heavy lifting: the Keene Remix of 'Through The Valley' flirts with progressive/melodic tropes while foregrounding the Arabic-style vocal, but it's German Brigantie's sleazy, squelchy lo-slung rerub of 'Busurman' that's the must-check.

Review: Sol Selectas' first Global Entry compilation, which hit stores earlier in 2021, was a fine collection of deep, dreamy and otherworldly music with a distinctly psychedelic slant. This follow-up is similarly mind-altering in tone, initially flitting between stripped-back throb-jobs (Sabo's 'Togi Trip' and Timboletti's decidedly druggy - if cowbell-sporting - 'About Frogs and Birds'), creepy nu-disco chug (Be Svendson), feverish world music/deep house fusion (Hot Oasis), languid deep house warmth (Paax). As the collection progresses, the beats get marginally bolder and the basslines weightier, with further nods towards hypnotic tech-house, trance-inducing late-90s ambient techno workouts and percussion-laden dancefloor tropicana.

Review: Just like its five predecessors, the latest volume in Sol Selectas' Summer Sol compilation series is packed to the rafters with warming, life-affirming musical treats. At 28 tracks deep it's a genuine epic, but the label's high-quality threshold rarely dips throughout. For proof, check the jangling, Mediterranean terrace-ready Balearic house vibes of Sabo's 'Podre
Tulum', the exotic, bass-heavy chug of Balam's 'Kambo' (a future slo-mo classic), the Middle Eastern sounding tech-house of Omeria's 'Trailblazer', the driving early morning dancefloor psychedelia of The Scumfrog's 'But If Not' and the ultra-dreamy, immersive brilliance of 'Blue Sun' by Yohoros and Balint Boldizsar, whose delay-laden horn lines and drifting chords sound tailor-made for sunrise.

Review: Sol Selectas is pleased to welcome back Mexico's Metrika for his first solo EP. Journey Through My Past tells the musical story of the artist, capturing all of his knowledge and experience into the creation of these three original songs. The moody "Yo Naca" is a deep tribal house journey featuring vocals taken from a traditional Icaros ceremony. For the remix, the label invited back their friends Matanza from Chile. Elsewhere, "Oda A Un Bata" features recordings of a traditional Cuban percussionist living in Mexico City, who had revolutionized ancient drumming techniques and the terrific EP closes out with the moody dancefloor drama of "Once Upon A Triplet" (original).

Review: Los Angeles transplant from NYC DJ Sabo serves up a great long player courtesy of his own respected Sol Selectas imprint entitled Vibe Quest. Leap deep into the exotic across the album's dozen or so tracks. As he describes himself, the album is "a sonic landscape that crosses several musical borders with mixtures of tropical poly-rhythms, warm bass frequencies, rich percussion." Sounds good already right? Our favourites were the dark and woozy Afro house of "Coconut Mantras", the sexy dancefloor drama of tech house slow burner "Sure & Pure", "Fantastico" which is definitely the most high octane offering and we must certainly mention the two bass heavy explorations of latin exotica performed alongside Nadastrom & Melo such as "Hang On" and "Timbiqui Hasta DC".

Review: KMLN (Kameleon) are an Italian-Canadian duo, formed in Berlin but now based in Los Angeles and appearing on fellow Los Angeleno Sabo's Sol Selectas imprint. The exotic "Alhambra" will appeal to Crosstown Rebels fans with its exotic instrumentation over deep atmospheric tech house vibes. "Walam" continues on its venture deep into the exotic using arabic vocals and more exotic instrumentation over a sultry deep house groove. Berlin tech house hero Nico Stojan steps in to do two remixes of "Alhambra" that nail that Kater Blau vibe. How could they not, after all: he's a resident there! The "Going To Japan" remix keeps it deep and retains the shaman in the desert style vibes of the original, but the "122 Rework" makes it more up tempo and dare we say, progressive.

Review: Dubsided has been the usual home for Nadastrom's output, the shady tech house head who has been delivering the goods over the last five years, but Soul Side feels like his natural home, a perfect ground for the mesmerising sonics of a house tune such as "Jupiter", most likely spawning its sounds from the mythical Roland synth. "Chivas" is our choice on here, though, and its rigged percussion pattern takes us to a territory that we very much love at the moment, an improvisational space jam for the deeper moments in a set, and a groove that can be enjoyed both off and on piste.

Inevitable Ending (Viken Arman & Goldcap remix) - (14:20) 100 BPM
Review: The latest EP on Sol Selectas sees deep house sort Hraach join forces with fellow Ready Mix contributor Armen Miran, whose recent Lost Found EP was an altogether more Balearic excursion. Given the common ground between the duo, it's unsurprising to find that "Inevitable Ending" is a drowsy and atmospheric deep house affair, with twinkling, xylophone style instrumentation and Middle Eastern melodies riding a smooth house groove. On "Aldebarran", the pair ratchets up the atmosphere a notch or two, with Miran contributing the melancholic piano flourishes that perfectly compliment Hraach's chunky deep house groove. The EP closes with something of an epic; a 14-minute remix of "Inevitable Ending" from Viken Arman and Goldcap that offers a chugging, psychedelic taste of the exotic.

Review: Last seen (and heard) collaborating with Hesselberg on Nazca, Dandara is a Switzerland-based producer best known for combining heavily electronic deep house with live percussion and elements of tropical music from Africa and South America. His latest EP for Sol Selectas follows a similar trajectory, moving between Innervisions-esque fare (fine opening cut "Atumbe"), looser and more percussive vibes (the warm and toasty "Caracal", which includes some rather nice electronic melodies) and the kind of spiritual house warmth more often associated with "Moja". Each cut comes with an accompanying remix. They're all strong, though our pick is Kilk and Frik's wonderfully tropical deep house take on "Caracal". It's a touch slower than Dandara's original mix but arguably twice as good.

Review: Unders enjoyed a rather productive 2015, delivering a string of releases for such labels as Play, Sincopat and Groove On. Here, the Dutch producer tries something a little different, eschewing his usual squeezable deep house and Euro-tech influences in favour of the kind of pitched-down, spaced-out dancefloor psychedelia that usually goes down a storm at A Love From Outer Space parties. "Syria" is an intoxicating, hallucinogens-fuelled trip to the Middle East, full of drifting Arabic flutes, foreboding bass, bubbling electronics and undeniably unsettling vocal samples. Satori ups the weird factor further on the accompanying remix, offering up sharper electronics, looser drums, and longer breakdowns.

Review: Sol Selectas Records specializes in deep tribal dance music, incorporating folkloric sounds and ancient rhythms, bringing them into a future electronic realm of deep house. Label boss Sabo released his album entitled 'Vibe Quest' back in 2016 and it now makes a return in the form of this remix package: which is rather impressive and worthy of your attention. Highlights on here include German tech house hero Acid Pauli's Singing Sequencer remix of "Singing Game" which is a woozy mid-noughties style minimal groove that's suited perfectly for the after hours. Multi Culti boss man Thomas Von Party's esoteric acid remix of "Drop That" is perfect for the raindance! Elsewhere, Los Angeles power duo Nadastrom return with a brooding remix of the title track and the legendary Alexi Delano makes a surprising appearance: the Swedish NYC transplant provides a hypnotic techno rework of "Force 4 Movement" while another legend in the form of Miami's Oscar G (who teams up with Lazaro Casanova) with a jacking remix of "Afro Fuego"

Review: SolS electas has long been one of the most reliable sources of contemporary house and nu-disco music informed by the musical traditions of South America, Africa and South East Asia. The Los Angeles-based label has hit the mark yet again with its latest release, which comes courtesy of little-known Italian producer Ayala. There are three original productions on show: fine opener 'Sacred Steels', where marimba style melodies, moody bass and swirling sound effects dance atop an Osunlade-style house beat; the creepier, ethno-house-meets-piano-house number 'Sacred Piano'; and the hypnotic throb of 'Panther', where tribal percussion, deep bass and deep house beats combine with impressive effect. Each track is accompanied by a remix, with Chambord's dubby, spacey rework of 'Sacred Piano' and Chambord's psychedelic, acid-laced revision of 'Sacred Steels' standing out.

Review: If sun-kissed, Latin-infused house music and humid tropical treats are your thing, we recommend checking out this EP from Los Angeles' Sol Selectas label and producer Derun. The talented artist first delivers a solo workout, cannily adding suspenseful synth-strings, jangling acoustic guitars and evocative Flamenco vocals to a chunky and percussive, tech-tinged house groove. Derun next joins forces with Pharoah's on South American house special 'Ven Hermosa', an even more foreboding and intoxicating affair featuring panpipes, atmospheric vocals, Amazonian instrumentation and bouncy beats, before recruiting ARKADYAN on EP standout 'Descalzo', another Flamenco house workout with a more blissful and Balearic vibe.

Review: Los Angeles based Sol Selectas specialises in deep tribal dance music, incorporating folkloric sounds and ancient rhythms, bringing them into a future electronic realm. This couldn't be embodied any more than on the celestial and esoteric groove of "Tiniri" by label boss Sabo and Amine K. This is sure to get some dancefloor drama happening - perfect for when the smoke machine and strobe lights come on. Hamburg hero Matthias Meyer steps up for remix duties and delivers a driving yet restrained perspective with added dancefloor dynamic - and working those hypnotic elements of the track superbly. If you're seeking more flavour, tune in to the deep dive into the exotic that is "Amanar" with its splendid sitar tones and rich tabla percussion workout.

Review: According to the label, Global Entry is a place for psychedelic, left-field music, and it sounds like they have succeeded in their approach. This compilation starts with the slightly ominous, mid-tempo chugging groove of Iorie's "Dangerous Love", before moving into "El Teatro de lso Suenos" from PAAX (Tulum). Based on a similar tempo, it goes deeper, with evocative vocals unfolding over piano keys and a melancholic groove that calls to mind Ibizan sunsets. Anthony Middleton of Audiofly fame adds some techy beats on "Energy is Currency" but even here the mood remains reflective thanks to the use of dreamy synths and a female vocal intoning the words to Simon & Garfunkel's evergreen the Sound of Silence.

Review: Featuring three originals from Satori himself and six other re-imagined cuts from the Sol Selectas back catalogue, Re:Imagined as an idea was conceived during a 10-hour set Satori plays in his hometown every year. With the music on display here dipping into a cultural melting pot of exotic sounds and diversity that's put through a filter of progressive, jazzed-laced and acoustic house, enjoy eastern-themed motifs in "Stone Flower", balearic guitars in "Tiniri" to the watery tabla rhythms and chant music of "Deep In The Mountains". Alternatively find poppier vocal numbers in "Obatala" to the summery, folky waltzes of "Heliocentrist" to the post-sunset vibes of "Marimbora". World music for the Ibiza dreamers.

Miracle D'Hwange
Victoria (Canson remix) - (6:38) 108 BPM
Miracle D'Hwange (Armen Miran remix) - (7:17) 116 BPM
Review: Previously, label-hopping twosome Amentia has largely delivered EPs that blur the boundaries between deep house and tech-house. This time round, though, the former jazz pianist and percussionist have opted for a far more melodious and dreamy approach. Opener "Victoria", for example, opens with an intoxicating, flute-laden ambient intro, before slowly morphing into a becalmed ethno-house shuffler. The use of fluttering flutes and melodious percussion instruments (marimba, xylophone etc) continues on "Antilope", while title track "Miracle D'Hwange" sounds like a particularly psychedelic cut from the Italian dream house era. The package also boasts two tasty remixes: a chugging, dreamy and slow motion rework of "Victoria" by Carson, and Armen Milan's slick, outer-space tech-house interpretation of the title track.

Highlights include Namito's sublime journey into the deep that is "Mad Heart" (featuring Mojgan & Marjan), the Middle Eastern polyrhythms of Turkish DJ/producer Ece Ekren's "Canim", while Ukraine's Deenara does neon-lit dark disco on "Queen Wand" and Swiss minimal veterans Dachshund & Quenum venture into after hours territory on "Reverse".

Review: Released in December 2020, Buddy System was not only Sabo's second artist album, but also his first to be made up entirely of collaborations with other artists. Here, the album has been given the remix treatment in its entirety. The results are largely impressive, with the assembled remixers managing to retain elements of the collaborative originals while putting their own spin on things. Our picks include DJ Chus's typically dark, atmospheric tribal house tweak of the wonderfully intoxicating 'Bakhu' (with DJ Oasis), the tech-tinged Arabic house wonder that is the Derun remix of Under hook-up 'Duende', Guy Mayan's squelchy, spaced-out and ultra-deep take on 'Min Q' (with Saint Flip), and Nutia's woozy, pitched-down and pleasingly rubbery revision of 'Fain' (co-produced by SidiRum).
