Review: Soul Deep, what a label. The only criticism you could level at these guys is that they release too much music, because it feels as if every single week there's another EP, or a single or an album. This week it's label founder MSDOS and he's dropping Lost Vibes, an EP with a title track that sticks up to its name; soft, gentle and certainly deft in how an array of fluffy sampling sits above a solid drum line. 'Beside Her' pushes things up a notch intensity wise, with a new burst of energy coming from that jumpy amen loop and tight back end, a true bit of liquid funk. Another good bit of A&R from these guys.

Review: MsDOS is one of the most long-standing liquid producers in the scene, and he's someone who has been around the block more times than you can really count, with an endless amount of releases across a host of labels. Soul Deep is the host this time and it's for his Barcelona LP, as part of the label's long-running Artist Spotlight series. It's chock a block with funky, light hearted tones set to a running pace and we especially dig 'Silicon Valley', a synthy number which will stab its way into your heart - not literally. Lovely music on this one.

Review: 'Sweet August' is a euphoric and uplifting cut of jungle, with sweeping summer sounds and a soulful vocal which leaves you completely unprepared for the next track. 'Country Dropies' has a low mutated monster of a bass which almost sounds as if it's trying to communicate with you, paired with the tracks happy go lucky vibe, we feel like we're in a weird Scooby Doo episode. 'The Sound Of A Wave' believe it or not has sampled, yes, you've guessed it, a wave, also drawing on classic jungle elements and a lovey sunny piano loop. 'Inside of Me' is nostalgia to the maximum, floaty liquid jungle at its loveliest. All in all a gorgeous calming EP to enjoy at home as well as the dance.

Waves - (5:16) 176 BPM
Review: And the vibes keep flowing...Their third release together this year so far, MSDOS and Soul Deep Exclusives continue to pepper us with premium feels across two more tracks. "My Factories" pulsates with a palpitating pad and dubby traces as a one-word spoken sample creates a momentum between the developing bars hypnotically. "Waves" ebbs and flows with a jazzier sensibility as gliding chords swoon and cheeky drops in the drums cause a cool sense of funky unpredictability. Timeless.

Sunset
Sunset - (6:00) 176 BPM
Retrospective - (5:32) 176 BPM Hot
Review: Mind-bogglingly prolific Greek soul man MSDOS follows up his "Best Of" on Soul Deep earlier this month with two fresh originals. "Sunset" lives up to its name with a delicate piano hook that ripples back and forth in a way that's more common in housier circles but works so well in drum & bass when rolled out in this way. "Retrospective" looks in the rave rear-view mirror to pay respect to a whole range of foundation influences - not just big piano-licking hardcore but jazz, funk and soul, too. Pure audio alchemy.

MSdoS - "Mayan Hieroglyphic" - (5:55) 174 BPM
Review: It's clearly a time for reflection at MSdoS Towers: not only has he just unleashed his "Lost Files" on Liquid Drops this year but he's also looking back over his body of work with LA vibe dealers Soul Deep. A great chance to fill gaps in your collection, grooves range from the rich early London Elektricity style sample play of "70's Entry" to the deeper, more cosmic fluctuations of "Underground". Other highlights include the rhumba magic of "We Only Live Once", the super dreamy "Cosmic Keys" and the serious serenity of "Autumn Leaves". And that's just the tip of vibe iceberg.

Undercover
Undercover - (5:32) 176 BPM
70's Entry - (4:57) 174 BPM Hot
Review: Greek roller merchant MSDOS returns to Soul Deep with two string-powered drama bombs: "Undercover" uses to two orchestral lines to devastatingly great effect as a staccato string line creates intense tension while "70s Entry" takes us on much more of a Lalo Schifrin car chase style of funk where the horns take much more of a central position and are flanked by soaking wet wah wahs guitars. Liquid with beef, both of these are guaranteed to hit the spot.

Away (original mix) - (5:40) 175 BPM
Escape To London (instrumental mix) - (6:08) 172 BPM
Review: Stepping away from breaking brand new artists, Soul Deep reconnect with Greek veteran MSDOS for three tender rollers and he's brought US singer/songwriter along for the ride. NY-based Shichman (who's also part of Blockwork) lays down his unique croons that shine in a way like no other D&B vocal with their classic indie-borderline-AOR style yearns making each of these cuts genuinely stand out. "Escape To London" thumps with some fantastic drum work and big washy strings while "Away" is a little more subdued and introspective, fitting David's vocal style intimately. Emotional.

Joint - (5:16) 176 BPM
Leicester - (5:32) 176 BPM
Fingertip - (5:16) 176 BPM Hot
Review: With an EP released every month since May, unGoogleable Greek producer MSDOS is firing on all soulful cylinders right now. Following a string of releases on Liquid Drops he returns to Soul Deep with four more heart/floor/soul-warmers: "Cosmic Flow" is the epitome of subtle jazzy rollers, all filtered and fluctuating. "Joint" is a big car-chase piece with classic ravey synth stabs used to dramatic effect. "Leicester" rolls with some excitingly unusual drums, piano shimmers and sporadic, Marky-style bass tones. "Fingertip" brings us to a jazzy climax with Latin touches on the sample and granular drum work created from the beaches of Rio itself.

Review: MSDoS returns to Soul Deep for some fresh material to see in Great British Summertime 2015. Crisp and soulful, each tune is an instant classic and the type of quality we've all come to expect from this prolific producer. Especially stunning is "Straits", which takes vintage breaks and repurposes them into a deeper than deep roller that manages to be weighty and beautiful in equal measures. "Such A Thing" sees a Malaky and MSDoS pairing, bringing forward the sunshine vibes, leaving us wanting a bit more from these two. Future collabs imminent? Stay tuned.

Review: A collaborative LP from two of Soul Deep's most loved artists only means one thing - listeners are going to be looking for perfection. Luckily for these two debonair producers, there's enough talent and perfectionism to go around, as each track delivers something different for the discerning listener. From the sparkling liquid rollout of Down Under" to funky skankathon "Hey Girl"; the blissful, peaceful vibes of "Moonlight" or the impeccably assembled and arranged "Brussels To Athens" (the pair's hometowns) to the rusty, vintage darkness of "Self Confusion" this is an LP of different shades and colours. Not content with finding a formula and sticking with it, they've grown as individuals and made music they want to hear themselves.

Autumn Leaves
Autumn Leaves - (5:37) 174 BPM Hot
Strings Of Relief - (4:53) 174 BPM
Played by: PLATFORM, Mukiyare
Review: mSdoS and Malaky - two of Soul Deep's most reliable family members - hook up for a couplet of soul-coated rollers, and the result is a seasonal sonic sensation. "Autumn Leaves" whirrs and purrs with trembles of delicate piano touches, harp licks and an undulating sub bass arrangement. "Strings Of Relief" is a little heavier on the rhythm front, pushing and shoving with big bold hi-hat splashes and sweeping strings. Both live up to Soul Deep's continuously high, yet impressively understated benchmark.
