Review: Italy's Sound Exhibitions bring us an EP that finds DJ Moy joining forces once more with on-off collaborator and fellow label regular Funk Reverse. Openers 'Home Jazz' and 'Living In The Jungle' have a sparse, sketch-like feel reminiscent of library music, before 'Relax 4 You' turns both the tempo and the funk up several notches. Next comes 'Just This Funk', a lively little hip-shaker with chicken scratch geetars and energising horn blasts, before the EP closes back on a slightly mellower note with the sultry, sax-laden jazz-funker 'Get Your Funk' with its female oohs and aahs. Baby-makin' music for sure!

Review: DJ Moy returns once more to Italy's Sound Exhibitions label with a two-tracker that shows off his funkier side. The EP opens with 'Tribal Gardens', a rolling, lightly tropical-tinged instrumental funk groover that's topped with brass parps and underpinned by dense hand percussion. 'Space Friends' itself drops down to a hypnotic walking tempo, and again the bongas and congos are out in force, but here married to an in-your-face bass synth drone and wukka-wukking funk geetar while, in the midsection, centre-stage is stolen by an ear-catching, Theremin-like wail that adds a dash of 60s sci-fi kitsch.

Review: A three-tracker here featuring one track from Spain's DJ Moy on his own, and two produced alongside Italian oppo Ltg Long Travel Groove. Moy's solo contribution 'Tribal Boys' kicks us off in midtempo funky, jazzy mode, with some fine guitar, piano and organ work in the midsection. The two Ltg collabs then take us into more hip-hop-like territory with sampled rap vox, albeit both also maintain a similarly laidback, jazzual vibe to the opener. Surefire peaktime floorfillers may be in short supply here, but for longer/daytime/bar sets, you've got enough ammo here to keep 'em grooving along nicely for sure.

Review: Four classy slices of contemporary funk here from Sound Exhibitions regular DJ Moy. 'Venice Beach' kicks us off, a sprightly little roller with some fine Rhodes work, brass stabs and an understated female vocal. 'My Island' drops the tempo and has an ominous, almost cinematic feel, with a Turkish or Middle Eastern-style male vocal. 'Summer Funk' then takes us back into straight-up funk territory, albeit maintaining a low BPM count that gives the track a pleasingly slow-grindin' kinda vibe, before finally the EP's completed by 'Ghetto Groove Goin', another lower-tempo jam made up primarily of slap bass, funk geetar licks and the occasional horn fanfare.

Review: DJ Moy clearly didn't spend too long stressing over track titles when he was putting this EP together! Perhaps he should've spent a bit longer, because there's nothing basic about 'Basic Funk' at all: yes, it's a simple sleazy funk groove but 'basic' implies something DJ tool/filler-ish and 'Basic Funk', with its added electronic edge, is anything but. In fact, its air of synth-y, new beat-style menace makes it a real attention-getter, even if the indie-ish vocal's a tad less convincing. 'Distant Funk' is another low-slung groover with two competing vocals, a male (slightly NSFW) rap and a boogie-esque female chorus.
