Review: Southern Fried are at it again, closing off 2013 in fine style with this tight remix EP of Youngtee's recent track "The Stalker". You get the original, of course, along with a veritable 'house' remix and two stone cold remixes from The Joy Boys and Brooks Personal Alarm - both worthy, bass-driven re-wirings of a total dance floor stormer.

Hey (Ewan Pearson Skronk disco mix [alternate intro version]) - (8:09) 124 BPM
Review: For those with a passion for wonky analogue disco and left-of-centre house, Ewan Pearson remixing the Emperor Machine is a very enticing proposition. Predictably, Pearson doesn't disappoint, laying down a series of extra special mixes. His two "Skronk" versions - so called, we suspect, as their combination of parping, discordant saxophone, undulating analogue rhythms and post-punk New York attitude doffs a cap to Konk - are particularly good, with the vocal-less Skronk Dub standing out. Elsewhere, the tougher and wonkier Dubstrumental is also excellent, while the Skronk Disco Mix, complete with acid-flecked intro, shouldn't be ignored. Top stuff all round.

Review: Damn, Southern Fried are on a roll! We know these guys pack enough heat to bombard the dancehall but this EP is a real treat, especially seeing as it contains some of the hottest names ever to grace the house scene. It's a remix affair, all 4/4 and bouncy, starting with DJ Sneak's refix of "Work It Out" by The 2 Bears and shifting proudly to don Armand Van Helden's re-interpretation of "Crazy Talk" by Space Cowboy - a veritable club anthem and an immediate catch. Even Claude Von Stroke puts in an appearance along with Diplo and Alex Shelby, but it's Derrick Carter's rework of "I Jack U" by Riva Starr that really puts things into perspective and places Southern Fried in the big leagues - Unmissable!

Review: A brand new project from Doorly and Dave Spoon (AKA Shadow Child), Avec are all about the classic house vibes. Coming at you like a Mr Fingers-meets-Kenny Dope-meets-Hercules & Love Affair joint; this contemporary retrospective oozes timeless class. With cut-up vocal samples, staccato synth stabs, a warm bass groove and some arm-raising dynamics, it's an instant pleaser. Oh, and there's the not-so-small matter of Mr Scissor Sisters Jake Shears on vocals too. In a word: huge.

All We Got EP
No Way - (6:30) 120 BPM
Review: Breaking crowns with their smooth, synth-struck melodies since launching in 2012, Jack Fell Down are making some serious waves on the deep house scene right now. With four tracks in total, this EP shows the duo at their most extensive and comprehensive. Boasting the distinctive confident laziness of vocalist Stee Downes throughout, across the EP you'll drift away to a whole new world on the deep, dubby title track, you'll bump and grind to the 2 Bears-style "No Way" and you'll lie back and receive a full mind massage from "Just Begun". Jack Fell Down... and the vibes came tumbling after.

Review: Doorly steps up to compile Souther Fried's fourth instalment of the Southern Fried & Tested series. There's over forty-five tracks on here so it should keep you moving and warm for the entire duration of the summer, not to mention Doorly's ingenious mixing and mash-up style. The compilation also spans many different sub-genres of house, from booty, electro, tech and more dancehall-inspired tunes, creating one hell of a party and one beauty of an addition to Southern Fried's catalogue! Check the "Big Booya" acappella!

Review: As Phra continues to fly the Crookers flag solo, Southern Fried have compiled some of the best remixes they ever commissioned. As you'd expect from Southern Fried, it's a great spread that stretches across the board: Riva Starr's stupendously funky disco bassline on "Royal T"; loopy, wonky underground house (Jess Rose's rub of "Put Your Hands On Me"); seismic acid techmongery (Magik Johnson's take on "Remedy") and sexy filtered deep house (AlexKid's remix of "Remedy") No corner of the dancefloor is left uncovered.

Stay Up Here
Stay Up Here (The Rhythm Odyssey mixture) - (7:51) 121 BPM Hot
Review: Somnambulant sonic flavours abound as NY house duo make their debut on Southern Fried with "Stay Up Here". Swaying with delicate pianos yet pumping with a prominent acid hook and sparkling with Miss Bee's lush vocal, it's deep without any danger of limpness. Remix-wise both Bonar Bradberry and The Rhythm Odyssey deliver the goods. Bonar spaces things out a little and adds a trippier, more yearning edge to the groove while The Rhythm Odyssey (AKA Dean Meredith from Chicken Lips) dub-funks out the whole affair with a powerful synth bassline. Lovely.

Review: Andy Meecham and Dean Meredith's Chicken Lips project seems to be one of the most enduring production partnerships in recent times. The classic bassline of their seminal "He Not In" was recently the subject of major label excavation by Defected, whilst the duo's talent for new original material has found itself a home on Southern Fried. Having debuted on the South Coast operation last year with the appropriately titled D.R.O.M.P. EP, Chicken Lips make a worthy return here on All That You Do which comes backed with some stellar remixes. The original finds Chicken Lips in full out disco form, bouncing all manner of analogue tweaks and a soaring vocal from Charmaine Baines off the rubbery groove. Both Meecham and Meredith also contribute remixes under their respective Emperor Machine and The Rhythm Oddysey aliases and its hard to choose a winner between their remixes and the accompanying effort from Joe Goddard.

Review: Many would argue that The Black Ghosts project is Theo Keating and Simon Lord at their very best. An exemplary balance of electronic dancefloor power and song-writing science, every tune they've penned is essential - especially this accordion squeezing number taken from their 2011 album When Animals Stare. For the remixes Theo dons his Fake Blood hat for a more obvious electro dancefloor rush, while Sona Vabos twists us down a trippier track. You won't forget "Forgetfulness" in a hurry!

Review: This guy is scary - a classically trained producer who was winning DJ competitions by the age 18! Clearly set for great things, this EP sees this Californian debut on the classic Southern Fried imprint with two slick tracks. "Everything" is deep and comforting as sunset Ibizan bar music, while "Into the Night" is what he likes to call 'raunchy tech" and with grooves this low-down who are we to argue? Elsewhere the Frogs In Socks dub is a mindblower and Jack Fell Down's garage rework is a total party starter.

Crookers - "That Laughing Track" (feat Style Of Eye & Carli - Sona Vabos remix) - (5:53) 122 BPM
Review: This collection highlights the many different approaches that Vabos applies to remixing. On one hand there's the bass-heavy, forceful techno of the remix of The Black Ghost's "Forgetfulness", while at the other end of the spectrum, Sona Vabos adds some spaced out, dubby beats to The Mighty Dub Katz classic "Magic Carpet Ride" and adds house suss to the 2 Bears' tongue in cheek pop ditty "Work". In between these polar opposites, there's the scary vocals, dank acid licks and belching bass of the rework of Chicken Lips' "Dromp" and the pulsing 303s and eerie synths on the reshape of His Majesty Andre's "Hymn".

Review: Champion of genre-leaping, Doorly's unpredictable style is what makes each release so attractive. From jump-up D&B to squiggly, spiky dubstep to deep house, his label Pigeonhole This says it all. Here's a fine example; "Something To Say" is a deep disco cut, dished up with nu funk panache. With Roland "They know what is what but they don't know what is what" Clark on mic duties, it's instant feel-good power with a vibe you can't help but feel you've heard before. "Don't Worry About It", meanwhile, is a deep house cut that's not dissimilar to early Justin Martin material but with a more UKG-style dark garage bass tone. Here's to genre-leaping.

Review: Thanks to the likes of Disclosure, that classic breezy deep house sound is well and truly back on the playlist (although to many it never actually went away!). Kashii have nailed the vibe right here with both "Vis Major" and "Going Nowhere" both drenched in that stylish and stripped back mid 90s Smoove groove. Meanwhile on the title track we're treated to something a lot darker. "Ciano" carries very similar retro sound schemes but the groove itself is whole lot more minimal and tribal. Heads down please.

Review: Are you ready for a nice wholesome slice of epic? Then look no further as His Majesty has delivered one of his best yet to Southern Fried. The main hook is a staccato synth hook that rises with filtered panache. Think a cross between Thomas Bangalter and Milke; this is anthemic but done with class. The same can be said for "Paintings" - euphoric but not over the top. Dreamy, lush and set to spine-tingle, this slo-mo heartbreaker will cause major meltdowns. The remixes are ruddy awesome too. This "Hymn" needs preaching!

Ares - (5:27) 123 BPM
Review: Fresh from France, Southern Fried's latest starlet Alphaat follows up his numerical release with a sprightly six tracker that weaves and bobs its way through house, tech, electro and downtempo vibes with both humour and a serious jacking sensibility. "Spartacus" is a stand out for us; coming at you like an old DJ Pierre record remixed by Boys Noize, there's no mistaking the devious dancefloor intent. Elsewhere we see him dropping the tempo a notch and giving a sly nod on "Ares", a track that gives a sly nod to his fellow French artists with quirky little filtered touches. "Aether" sees him drop the tempo again for a beautiful headphones, warm up or backroom joint. Lovely stuff.

Riot - (4:39) 120 BPM
Review: Manchester's festival favourites, The Whip, are back with an eventful new EP on Southern Fried. Lead track "Riot" is an epic slice of Chemical Brothers-style electro-house. Electro-disco heroes Franz & Shape deliver an, ahem, riotous remix that exaggerates the arpeggitated bassline and 303s. French producer Mondkopf goes a different route, offering a slow and doomy mix. Also included is another tune, "Keep Or Delete", remixed here by Nickel as a show-stopping techno-disco explosion!
