Review: Several Definitions, despite what the name may insinuate; is not a group rather one lone Swiss producer known as Jeremy. Appearing here for esteemed Berlin label Still Vor Talent, he presents four servings of tech house goodness on the You Are Not Alone EP. The original version of "Alone" is a dark and melodic journey track packed with the right amount of suspense and drama that'd make even the Life & Death camp up their game. The remix by Hatzler stays true to the original, but just gives it that extra amount of 'oomph' to play at the peak time slot. "Esmeralda" is also worthy of mention; this swirling and hypnotic trance odyssey is reminiscent of a more classic dance music style and is surefire magic on the dancefloor.

Review: The cover art makes reference to the children's classic story about a little girl chasing a white rabbit, and there's certainly a sense of the surreal about this release. "Scope" is a pulsing underground house groove, its grungy bassline and muffled but insistent bassline making for the perfect accompaniment for those 'lost it' moments on the dance floor. "Evil" is another malevolent track, but this time, grainy riffs and jagged percussive licks that accompany the tub thumping, rolling drums. "Feelings" features a rolling, tribal groove and is more laid back than the first two tracks as a funk guitar sample and sensuous disco strings prevail. "Delight" is cut from a similar cloth, and its sax stabs and deep chords underpin an infectious 'hey hey' vocal sample.

Review: Turkey-based twin brothers, Emre & Mert Altinok aka Lunar Plane's highly anticipated return to Stil vor Talent comes in the form of the EP 'Waiting'. Embracing their musical roots while showcasing their evolved precision, this release harmoniously blends youthful artistry with mature sophistication. The title track and lead single "Waiting" captivates with its infectious blend of arpeggiated basslines and captivating vocals, offering an immersive experience for both club enthusiasts and daydreamers. "Je Danse" delves into the duo's darker side, accompanied by haunting vocals from Sezer Uysal. Concluding the journey, "Above" seamlessly merges melancholic melodies, energetic rhythms and enchanting flute accents.

Review: It sounds like German label Stil Vor Talent have a late contender for house release of 2012 on their hands. "Rej Senhor" evolves from a stripped back groove into a warm, full-blooded Latino affair, its sensuous guitar playing underpinning Narra's sensuous, velvety vocals. But that's not all: "Cold World" (which sonically speaking, sounds the opposite of its title) features a dusty bass and seductive piano keys that roll in, both melancholic and strangely uplifting at the same time. Finally, "Raoui" may not be the most immediate track, but it's this writer's favourite due to its loose, live clapping, subtle acoustic guitar strumming and a spine-tingling vocal delivered in an obscure language.

Review: Berlin imprint Stil Vor Talent are unstoppable at the moment and their release schedule ups the ante yet again on this fine release recruiting two new emerging talents. First up is German trio Township Rebellion who deliver some seriously epic dancefloor melodrama on "Aphrodite" full of dark pads, wonky synth leads and eerie atmosphere. Their next track "Gaia" is less sombre but equally as immersive and bound to create some tension on the dancefloor. It is then over to Amsterdam's' Marc Holstege who serves up some deeply emotive tech house on "Mangata" while "Sonorous" brings back more rich and melodic synth textures on this smooth affair geared for proper drifting on a rooftop somewhere.

Review: Edu Imbernon comes from a house background, but has often presented his work in a pop context. "Things I Do" is your classic electro-house as defined in the mid-noughties post electroclash era. In other words it's electro-pop, only deeper and more housey - with Sutja Gutierrez's breathy vocal laments wafting over dreamy synths and a driving 4/4 beat. Remix-wise, Teenage Mutants and Lars Moston provide a tingly, touchy-feeley retro house version, while Los Suruba represents the often forgotten minimal house contingent.

Review: The Last Trip was originally conceived as a series of events by Berlin-based institution Stil Vor Talent but has now sonically evolved into a new in-house series of compilations. By focusing on a handful of their current signings, they allow them to express themselves with not one, but two tracks each to really show off their style. Up first is Italy's Malandra Jr. with the brooding electro-tinged dystopia of "Utter", Frenchman Citizen Kain goes for that ethereal deep house sound that has become the trademark of the label recently on "Balance" fetauring Aves Volare's life-affirming monologue, while veteran Olivier Giacomotto knows house to rock the house as always on the epic "Moonshine" and they save the best for last with the ascendant Made In Paris taking the melodic tech house sound to further heights on the futuristic "Conjure".

Review: Initially materialising as a fully fledged happening, Stil Vor Talent's latest compilation kicks off 2020 with a big bang. The Last Trip is a mini-compilation of party-friendly styles under the techno umbrella, rolled into 12 exclusive tracks - featuring legends and newcomers alike. There are two selections from Malandra Jr, with the seething banger "Poison" leading the charge, Citizen Kain is no stranger to the label either and his two contributions come in the from of the moody hypnotiser "Crush" followed by the adrenalised peak time groove "Balance". Elsewhere, Heerhorst get on his tunnel vision on the dark journey "Hydra", Transcode explores classic trance melodies and Reese basslines on the epic "Molecular Cloud", the ever reliable scene stalwart Olivier Giacamoto serves up the minimal tech house jam "Bonobo" and Made In Paris wraps up this fine package in style with the slick nightmoves of "Conjure".

Review: On his sixth album, Berlin based DJ, label owner and producer Oliver Koletzki presents his remarkable vision of contemporary electronic music. The Arc of Tension speaks to its listener as a singular, self contained work, which communicates by way of its natural flow and arc of suspense. The latter is mirrored not only in the multifarious narrative of the actual album, but can also be understood as evidence for its creator's long musical history. While Koletzki focused on a diverse range of vocal collaborations on his previous long players, he now moves on to a different form of storytelling, rooted in the quiet confidence of a veteran musician, as well as the hectic lifestyle of a globally in demand DJ. The Arc of Tension is the 'psychoanalytic' journey through the various continents of Oliver's consciousness.
