Review: Argentinean producer Luis Ruiz drops a stunning pure techno four-tracker on his Subsequent Limited side-label. "The Long Tomorrow" has the same grimy, acid-caked beats as classic Jeff Mills and provides a visceral wake-up call for the bland new wave of techno. "Merrick" also worships at the altar of Detroit techno, but on this occasion, it's the jacking metallic minimalism and grainy organs of vintage Robert Hood that provide inspiration. "Fires of Molech" opts for a Downwards take on techno, its huge, churning filters propelled over heavy kicks. "The Holographic Talbot" completes the release, with Ruiz opting for a more mellow sound, as the warbling acid lines bubble over an undulating groove.
