With a seemingly 80s synth, punk and trance attitude presiding throughout this edition, get your Doctor Who themes from "&YU", with Jean-Michel Jarre seemigly influencing other sleeper hits like "Brainbuster" and " A Way To Say Goodbye". With subtle touches of Italo, proto-techno, heavy tech house', minimal synth and electro & punk making it into the compilation too - don't sleep on this if you get a kick out of dancers asking for track IDs. Our tip: Keith Holland's trance-and-Hacienda-inducing "Panorama".

Known for an exceptional fusion of percussive and melodic techno, Solique embodies an artistic symbiosis for progressive techno erring towards a housey mainframe than anything industrial, taking off first with a synth heavy and uplifting lead cut "Fakes". Review: Valencia's Upercent makes an impacting debut on Sum Over Histories with Taula Baser - a four-track EP that stands tall in a discography spanning Innervisions, Kompakt, TAU, and Diynamic. Opening with the relentless club anthem "Revolta" said to be born from a Munich night to remember, it's a groovy banger propelled by intricate rhythms and an entrancing vocal motif. "Contorsiona" follows, a mesmerising odyssey of pulsating rhythms, urgent chimes, and warped vocals, while "Mussol" offers some tranquil night owl vibes thanks extra to Upercent's simplicity and moody percussion too. Concluding with "Reminiscencia", its ominous yet crafty soundscape and intensifying, repetitive vocal adds more luminescence to the mix yet.

Review: The latest release from Frankey & Sandrino does exactly what it says on the tin. Translated from German as 'the leap', it sees them dive into the deeper end of house and techno. Fittingly, the title track features repetitive vocals and a hypnotic chord sequence coming together over a rickety rhythm. The end result is a tripped-out track that defies categorisation. "Libelula" follows a different path. It sees the duo conjure up what could be an incompatible fusion in less capable hands. At the heart of the track are an ominous bass and pared back drums. These elements provide the basis for atmospheric synths and bleepy tones that swirl effortlessly through the arrangement.

Review: Frankey & Sandrino's Sum Over Histories presented its first EP for 2023 last month by the artist Colouour, who had been already featured on the label on the last Path Integral as RUNO. There were four magical tracks on the Uyku EP and now we are treated to two fine remixes. Bedrock chief's (and scene legends!) John Digweed & Nick Muir take on a riveting new kind of journey with their rendition that's perfect for those heads down moments on the dancefloor, while Berlin rising talent John Falke hands in a rework that injects the track with an off-kilter brand of advanced futurism.

Review: Frankey & Sandrino's Sum Over Histories is back this week with a new release by the ascendant Berlin-based/Israeli producer Tal Fussmann. The label likes all kinds of music and tries not to limit itself to just one genre. It loves artists who think the same and when finding such a rare talent, tries to showcase their versatility. Fussman really mpresses on the Here To There EP, exploring three different universes of electronic music. From the slow motion tribal house of "Noisy World", to the deep and hypnotic techno of "Possible" and the intense dancefloor drama of the title track - this one's best experienced with your eyes closed.

Review: Under the Imperieux alias, Alper Durmush has already released a handful of quietly impressive EPs on ATLANT Recordings. Here he returns to action after a seven-month break with his first outing on Sum Over Histories. He begins confidently via the exotic chord sequences, Turkish instrumentation, spiraling synthesizer melodies and chunky drums of "Mehmed", which rises and falls impressively over the track's eight-minute duration. There's a similarly epic, layered feel to "Inat", where darting riffs rise above sustained bass notes and the kind of hybrid deep house/tech-house groove normally associated with Dixon and Ame's impeccable Innervisions label. We'd argue that this two-tracker is Durmush's strongest single to date, though it's clear there's much more to come from the fast-rising producer.

Review: Frankie & Sandrino's imprint Sum Over Histories now present German producer Lazaros with he Vistors EP where the Cologne based producer serves up three epically dark journey tracks made for drifting on the dancefloor. Starting off with the ethereal bump and grind of slow burner "Under The Sun" which impressively utilises a trance style gated arpeggio, its then on to the gloomy horror movie themed "Odysee" which sounds like John Carpenter gone nu-disco. There's then two versions of the title track, but for our money it's all about the life affirming progressive house on offer with the second version: which will have you tunnelling out of control with its pure dancefloor drama.
