Review: One word: Nasty. Title track "Sharks" is a full-blown assault from all sides, offering nothing but a barrage of techy bass waveforms relentlessly crashing into your pre-frontal cortex. If that sounds like your idea of fun, and why wouldn't it, continue on to "Nuthouse", a swirling vortex of doomy, vintage synths and compressed bass that enough to send you bonkers. Finally, Callide takes the helm on "Sharks", so there's every chance what was left of that brain is about to get a lot messier. Big, brash, filthy and about as subtle as a ten ton anvil, get on this immediately and play it until your ears bleed. You might not need as many rewinds as you think.

Review: Since resurrecting System Shock, Callide has been on a one-man mission to raise the profile of his own favoured brand of soul-shaking deadliness. On this little beauty of a remix EP though, he's no longer a man on a lone mission, as plenty of the scene's hardest hitters have been placed on point to lend a hand. Remixes like DJ Hybrid's old school take on "Inferno" and Dominator's epic rolling intro for "A Way To Get The Answer" have given a new lease of life to these dancefloor-destroying slices of pure energy, as well as show off the diversity and creativity that still lives within the heart of our darkest, most club-focused sub-genres. Review: Gloucester guy Callide has been a drum & bass hero for more than ten years now. Offering on point production and serious basslines with an unmistakeable groove, his brand of D&B is head and shoulders above your common or garden hard hitting variety. "Inferno" brings forth the beats ,with an atmospheric edge and jazzy bass in the breakdown that brings Calibre to mind before busting straight back to that huge stepper riddim dancefloors have been crying out for. "Hazed Out (Ganja Riddm)" stretches out that scene-setting intro before smashing headfirst into some old school jump up rave madness. Substance, style and serious club credentials, if you love D&B and skip this release, you want your head looking at.
