Review: Dave Dubbz is beginning to gain a reputation as a reliable source of bumpin', low-slung, energy-packed house, influenced as much by the "boompty" sounds of Derrick Carter as contemporary disco-house trends. Here he appears on Hipp-E and Halo's Tango Recordings imprint with a trio of booming, floor-friendly cuts. Throughout, the emphasis is on loopy, bassline-driven dancefloor funk. Choose between the snaking sax, rubbery bass and looped-up spoken word samples of "I Can't Smoke", the long builds and parping horns of "Rumble In The Disco", and the rather quite gargantuan "Going Back". All three pack some serious punch.
