Review: Straddling the grey zone where techno, garage and bass all intermingle is KEEFE's All Night. The title track is a good example of how this approach plays out. Over an intense, rolling techno groove, KEEFE weaves in repetitive vocal samples and whooshing filters. "Blue Calm" follows a similar trajectory - on this occasion, a wailing diva brings her uplifting tones to an intense, raw groove. "Drop Dat" veers more towards garage, thanks to the use of an ominous bass and skipping drums. This influence is also audible on "I Was There", but this time the sound is more soulful, as a stepping groove and a bruising low end underpin soulful vocals.
Review: It's time to dive into the abstract as you've never experienced it before as Jason Code lands on Teethy for a vibrant sonic adventure, unveiling his '4 Square' EP. The title track is a wicked amalgamation of beepy synth textures and grizzly bass growls, giving us a uniquely designed contraption. Next, 'Greetings' ups the ante a tad further, unleashing a more bouncy set of synthetic additions, before the more organic sounding bass shuffles of 'I Knoww' give us an intricate flick through tidy vocal sample slices and more of those fabulous blippy synthesiser pops. Finally, 'Swamp Stomp' gives us potentially the most dancefloor influenced original of the bunch, unleashing jumpy metallic pulses and post 2-step drum patterns for a very creative final addition.
