Review: Metal Work and Just Mack link up once again for another trip into the subtle and soulful corners of their palette. 'New Dawn' is a fitting opening gambit. Graceful pianos, dreamy vocals and surging sense of soul set the tone for the whole EP more graceful grooves breeze our way. 'Acceptance' is a solemn nodder, 'Free Falling' takes us towards Pennygiles or Calibre territory before 'I'll Be Here' closes the EP with more of a funkier, jazzy twist. Sublime.
Review: Becoming more and more versatile and skillish with every release, Gradient co-bossman and hugely respected D&B blacksmith Metal Work returns to our playlists once again with more wide-armed, forward-thinking sounds. As with his previous releases on The District, 'Take Your Time' flexes his more soulful side as he whips up four emotional, heartfelt grooves for the deeper leaning heads. Highlights include the dreamy vocal treatments and gentle pianos on 'I'm Done' and the heavier, futuristic finale piece 'Lost Soul'. Superb.
Review: There's no stopping Metal Work and Just Mack right now as the pair link up once again for four more deep, smouldering burn-ups. Full spectrum flavours as always; 'Baby (In Love)' is all about that classic soulful vibe that The North Quarter has championed really well in recent years. Elsewhere 'Extra' takes us into more cosmic Soul:r areas before 'Need To Know' shimmers in with all the glossy vibes we need for spring. Finally 'Running Out Of Time' ends on an emotional, introspective piano flex. What a session. Trust us; you most definitely 'Need To Know' about this EP!
Review: Usually known for his uncompromising jump up textures and dastardly dark dynamics on the dancefloor side, Metal Work continues to showcase his emotional line of beats on brand new label The District. Linking up with Just Mack once again, 'Took For Granted' is another chance to experience the softer side of Metal Work; lilting keys, dreamy vocals and a cosmic sheen lead the way as we're treated to a lavish liquid lunch. 'Every Night' takes us far away soulful places, 'In The Fields' is reminiscent of Artificial Intelligence at their dreamiest while 'Too Many Chances' closes the EP with an epic shot of psychedelic euphoria. Don't take this for granted.
Review: Best known for blacksmithing up your ears with pure grit, Tom Metal Work dusts off his soulful side and links up with Just Mack for this delicious summer number. Deep and dreamy vibes all the way, 'Sunshine' is the perfect afternoon / evening settler for easing people into the vibe. Deeper into the EP we hit the Workforce-esque smoothness of 'Deep As Shadows' while Just Mack's gentle tones appear on the stunning 'Attraction'. Last but not least 'Love Me Now' brings everything to an emphatic piano tickling climax. Metal Work needs to show off his emotional side more often!
