Review: Submorphics on ThirtyOne! How cool is this? We could write a risotto recipe for the rest of this text because you already how this situation is going down. Supreme frequencies, silky smooth and starlit, surging up into the cosmos at 174pmh with a powerful sense of hope and futurism. Some trips are more vibrant than others, however. And forever bright leap and bleep of cuts such as 'Odanata' and 'Astroglider', there's a much darker Detroitian bite to the lead track 'Galattico' and the deeper, more belligerent 'Bluntnose'. Infinity thumbs up.
Review: Man like Trex on Doc Scott's seminal ThirtyOne? Now this is what we like to see! Naturally, as you'd expect from such a partnership, the best of the best is on offer across the spectrum. 'One For The Road' and 'Hypnosis' both hit with that classic woozy swagger that Trex is best known for, 'Footnote' has a little sweet skanking charm to it while 'Moonshine' (with Benny V) takes us into classic mid/late 90s Total Science territory. Spacey, wobbly and loaded with more euphoria than a year-long trance convention. This is the business. But we didn't expect any less.
Review: Silent Dust's Hobzee hits Scotty's 31 imprint, going solo for the first time in a very very long time. It's clear he's not lost the soulful, cosmic touch he came through with way back in the mid 2000s on labels like Vibez and Celsius as each of these four gems sparkles with musicality and emotion. 'In The Dark' sets such a powerful, dreamy tone while the remainder takes us deeper and deeper into the 31 cosmos... 'Lone Victory' rockets us through clouds of all shapes and sizes, 'The Earth Below' shoots us right out to the stars while '18 Hours Later' sees Silent Dust partner Zyon Base and good friend Uneven join the fray and ease back to reality with a powerful piano-powered Soul:r type vibe. Each track a trip in itself. From the dark comes bright light...
