Review: You wouldn't immediately think of it, but Aaron Snapes has been going for around five years now, and his quirky take on tech-house is always a pleasure, both on the ears and the feet. He's up on This Ain't Bristol this time, and "Sausages" has to be both the funniest and funkiest house tune that we've heard this week - provocative in its vocal samples, and kind of addictive for its bouncy groove; Walker and Royce give the tune a sharper edge in their harder, more floor-centred remix. "Like That", in a similar vein, wheezes its gargling bassline over a steely, punchy percussion muscle, and it makes for another instant winner on the dance floor.

Work Me (Sacha Robotti remix) - (5:35) 123 BPM

Review: This Aint Bristol head honcho Billy Kenny continues to throw down some dirty bass driven post garage vibes on "Ron Dat" with its bumpy, wonky bassline (that's just killer), buzzing synth leads and a tough, shuffly groove: all you need really! It's no wonder he's released on the likes of Dirtybird recently. Second cut "Work Me" is more for the main room at peak time and as you guessed: is all about the bassline, pretty sick one on this too. The fierce swing fuelled garage rhythm supports some subdued acid and fairly direct vocal chants to make the room you play this to become electrified. Another fellow Dirtybird alumnus Sacha Robotti steps up too to lend a handy remix which doesn't deviate too much from the original.

Review: Billy Kenny may reside in Berlin, but as the latest release on his label demonstrates, his sound is decidedly British. This is apparent from the get-go with Kenny's collaboration with Walker & Royce, "The Lonely Robot"; fusing techno bleeps and robot vocals with a grinding electro-house groove. On "Rave Cave", his track with Kry Wolf, a love of punishing low-end is audible again, but this time it plays out over a stomping techno track. "The Pharaoh", co-penned with GotSome, sees Kenny retreat to a house styles, but its shrieks and predatory bass ensure that it'll maintain control of the dance floor. Kenny also pays dues to UK dance music's past with the furious snares and rave stabs of "Clap Clap", which he co-wrote with Low Steppa.

Review: This Ain't Bristol head honcho Billy Kenny is back on his respected imprint, with more bass heavy tech house to rock the main room. The druggy and thumping bounce of "Seahorses" is perfect for DJs to lead into the peak time - complete with a sick 'whomp' that would make even Timo Maas stand up and notice. The rolling boom and shuffle of "Jump Onna Beat" is the kind of modern rave anthem (complete with mentasms!) that would make its way into the Rekordboxes of selectors at Dirtybird's annual Camp Out, while the swing fuelled gallop of "Move Like Aliens" hammers the message home in proper Billy Kenny style.

Review: This Ain't Bristol head honcho residing in Germany, Billy Kenny, teams up with Hannover via London based duo Maximono here, for some sleazy, bass-driven house jams on the One Night Stand EP. Starting out with the infectious bump and grind of the very Dirtybird sounding "Hulahoop" (which proves exactly we he appeared on their Dirtybird Campout Compilation a few months ago with Abby Jane), they then get stuck into the rather stompin' "Get Off" (featuring some druggy pitch shifted vocals for added measure), followed by the booty shakin' bass assault of "Das Ist Sick" which just like its namesake states is.. Pretty sick!

This guy's definitely one to watch!

Review: For their next release, This Ain't Bristol present label head honcho Dillon Nathaniel in collaboration with Detroit speed garage heroes Golf Clap on this killer three tracker. Releases on Toolroom, Relief, Simma Black, Madhouse and their own Country Club Disco imprint have announced Golf Clap as a musical force to be reckoned with. On "Machines" they team up with Nathaniel for some massive bass driven tech-house (with some skills on the microphone courtesy of one MC Flipside), some dark and druggy late night shenanigans on "Hipnotic" and for something more uplifting: they serve up the swing-fuelled and funked-up joy of "Sick". Altogether creating a bunch of grooves suitable for rocking dancefloors whatever the occasion.

Review: Do you believe in the afterlife? Everybody deals with that big 'afterparty' in their own way. Some celebrate the start of it, others dread their inevitable fate. American masked producer Foolie reckons we should "Boogie" to the pulsating warm light of life, accompanied by a wild helter skelter ride between black and white. Dance in the dark to the chords of death while embracing the moment - and acknowledge that the light only shines as bright as you know the dark. He merges dubstep and techno delightfully on the title track, while the rolling "Oxy" throws some funky tribal drums into the mix to impressive effect with speed garage aesthetics. Finally, we've never heard such a thing as 'grime-house' but "Underwunder" is proff that it quite possibly exists.

Review: This Ain't Bristol, nope, it's Hannover. The latest release from the UK-informed German label comes from an artist known for housier and more techno-styled releases on labels like Dirtybird and Sleezy G. Here the producer serves up two giant slabs of four-to-the floor bass-heavy stompers made, as cliche as it sounds, for rockin' the club. And to add further effect there's an extra-wobbly Ghengis Clan remix to kill 'em all with.

Review: British/German joint effort This Ain't Bristol are back, this time presenting Brighton up and comer Josh Brown. To quote the label themselves this EP has it all. From jungle infused anthems, peak time heavy bass smackers to modern acid squeakers. What more do you want right? Starting out with the ethereal bass driven journey of "Systematic", he's then into the fierce, lowdown shuffle of "Frequencies. We particularly enjoyed "Raining Acid" which like its name suggests features some 303 abuse and pounding 808 beats which reminds us of Hardfloor or early Plus 8. Final offering "Filament" offers us some old skool junglist flavour with dark elements, authentic breaks and a Reece which will tear your speakers apart.

Review: Despite being based in Germany (Hanover, to be exact), This Ain't Bristol was launched to showcase "new British club music". Their latest missive comes from deep house/garage fusionist Billy Kenny, whose discography includes releases on Dirtybird, Nu Wave, and All Over It Recordings. There's much to admire on his latest EP, starting with the toast sub-bass, woozy deep house chords and crackly UKG beats of "What You Sample". While arguably heavier, "I Eat Beats" benefits greatly from a killer string riff and some heady electronics. Dirtybird regular Ardalan delivers a killer remix of the same track, beefing up the bassline and beats whilst retaining Kenny's superb string melody.

Review: South African bass house hero Kyle Watson exploded onto the scene only a mere few years ago and has become a force to be reckoned with. His releases on top labels like Dirtybird, Elevation and of course This Ain't Bristol - the British/German joint venture - presents Watson's debut album titled Into The Morning. Said to be orchestrated in countless hours between dusk and dawn, it takes him on adventures into new creative territories. It's a diverse affair overall, with a selection of moods and grooves that all feature the Johannesburg native's penchant for catchy low -end driven bounce. From the pop-inflected tech house of "I Know, "Control Ya" featuring PHFAT with its street-level future beat swagger, or the tough jackin' boompty business of "Chomp".

Review: Billy Kenny's Anglo-German house label This Ain't Bristol has built up a sizeable international fanbase including the likes Dirtybird's Claude Von Stroke, amongst others. Now we have Dirtybird alumni Kyle Watson making an appearance too. For this release he's rustled two perfectly pitched jams that appeal equally to the head and the heart. "Rhinoceros" features a sleek, sparse and melodic tech groove coupled with extra bass buzzes. "The Cone" meanwhile is more euphoric and features trancey arpeggios and accelerated bottom end.

Review: Kyle Watson is the South African purveyor of bass driven tech-house, who's fast become the poster boy of the Dirtybird sound. He takes time out from Claude Von Stroke's camp to throw down some fat and dirty beats that are heavy on the low end - for UK / German connection This Ain't Bristol. "Pop Up" features all the hallmarks of Watson's sound: seriously boompty bass, druggy pitch shifted vocals and tight chunky rhythms. He then ventures deeper into the afterhours on the sleazy and slow burning "Camouflage Cat" which features a monster kick and a roaring bassline which will nearly blow your subs - all you really need to know there, 'ain't it! (pardon the pun). Watson is well respected within the local industry in his home of Johannesburg and has grown his global reach with recent tours across Brazil and Australia.

Review: Landis Lapace lands most vertically on This Ain't Bristol with two minimal cuts in UK flavour, dressed with plenty of salt and vinegar and a little bit of BASS. "Surrender" is a bleepy and teched-out floor mutant for the peak time hours, while "Zesty Nachos" is a little more ravey, peppered with deranged piano keys and even the odd break here and there! There's also a 'hard mix' of the latter, which features a tad more drum swing in the mix.

Review: UK/Germany joint venture This Ain't Bristol are back with Birmingham's Lo Steppa who enlists a little help from buddy Bot (formerly of Italian enfant terribles Crookers) for some bouncing bass heavy jams such as "This Is" with its hands in the air house organs, grinding low frequencies and dusty rhythm shuffle: this is gangsta! Also on offer is "Vibe With Me" which is less dramatic and more uplifting with its bumping, swim fuelled and cut up hip-hop samples giving the tracks its grit.

Which funnily enough is from Hannover, Germany. Getting stuck in straight away with the boompty electro house groove of "Nasty" featuring booming 909 and a buzzing bassline that's sure to pack a dancefloor like a Will Clarke record. "Stop Interrupting" however is more of a sinister and tripped out tech house monster. Ideal for getting pre peak time dancefloors in the mood to freak!

Review: Anglo-Germanic duo Maximono have a large underground following due to the quality of their bass-heavy productions. Here on "Jack It", they pay 'a great homage to the old school hip hop and breakdance scene' that served as an early influence on the pair. The original is a deep and sultry orgy of paired down percussion - a clear and simple DJ tool. The remixes are strong too, with Kyle Watson delivering a cool, sub-bassy grinder, Chris Larson revisits vintage Chicago for some after-hours action, but it's the pared back thrust of Tim Baresko's rework that's the true winner here.

Review: Longstanding jack maestro Olivetti gets busy on burgeoning imprint This Ain't Bristol. "Bee Beat" is one of those simple-but-oh-so-effective ideas that just plays on a very small Blaze vocal sample and takes it on a twisted journey through the innards of a sampler. Distinctive and wholly funky, it's one of Olivetti's finest. Remix-wise Kry Wolf digests more of the vocal sample and spits it out over a chunky full-jack swing. Finally we hit the very Dirtybirdesque "Sax O Sex". All swooning, trippy and crucially

Starting off with the booming and relentless low end assault of "Elephant Man" (which will give your bass bins and good a proper rattling be assured), it doesn't let up on next offering "The Dude Abides" where Robotti flies solo on this deep and druggy people mover. It is full of white noise washes, headrush inducing risers and jacking vocals over the obvious low frequency madness. Following up killer releases by label head honcho Billy Kenny, London duo Maximono and Brighton's Josh Brown, the label is off to a flying start for 2017 if we do say so ourselves.

Review: Hanover's This Ain't Bristol crew have so far delivered on their promise to release "good vibes house", unleashing a string of releases inspired more by bass-heavy British house than the smooth, techy and hypnotic sounds prevalent in their home country. Even More Selections, their second compilation, continues with this trend. Firmly focused on energetic, riotous house music, it variously touches on acid-laden bangers (Hood Rat's colossal "Hummus"), tech-tinged bassline wobblers (Sine Step's woozy "Advent", a thunderous concoction from Abby Jane and Billy Kenny), hands-in-the-air smashers (Landis LaPace, Pete Graham & Manta), and bubbling, tech-heavy rollers (Ghostea's decidedly electro-influenced "Ya Feel").

Review: As suggested by their name, This Ain't Bristol are a German label pushing UK sounds. Maximono are a duo of Drum & Bass producers from London and Hannover who have switched to house music and their bass driven, fun loving tendencies will no doubt mark comparisons to the Dirtybird crew over the Atlantic. They've taken over A&R duties for the label here and this compilation reflects their tastes There's some surefire dancefloor artillery on here such as Maximono themselves with "Bleep", Dirtybird alumnus Worthy with the bass heavy party vibes of "Big End", the druggy and minimal main room vibes of Los Angeleno Dillon Nathaniel on "Keep On Keepin On" and Berliner Ben Mono's "You Know It's True" which just reeks of Sunday afternoon hedonism at Kater Blau.
