Review: Finnish bass label Top Billin have been on fire for quite a while now. So has the trap genre too, so TB have decided to release a whole album dedicated to this dark side of hip-hop style. Any haters can go take a high one though, because TB have been pushing this sound since day one, so there's no bandwagon jumping here. Highlights of the '12 certified trap bangers' include the Drop It Like It's Hot-isms of "Okayy", the ghetto-distortion of "Bust It Open", the low n sleazy roll of "Juke In Box" and the positively biblical "My House".

Review: Ahh, Top Billin'; the label that keeps on giving! These unstoppable Finns have yet another serving of sizzling hot bass for us in the form of this new two tracker from Kepikei. This shady producer is gaining momentum and it's no surprise - "Bust A Move" is a totally cool slice of evil basslines, doomy vocal samples and an underlying booty vibe. "Ghettomaster" is the one though, a killer slice of arpeggiated ghettotech - totally baddass!

Review: Following on from DJ Tray's dope first instalment in this series, it's now the turn of his older brother Clubheadsliim, who turns in five cuts of dirty ghetto music like the true vet he is. "I'm A Freak" kinda says it all in the title - it being a total rump-shakin', hyped jump-up track. "Ass In The Air" is creepy electro-trap, "Like This" is a sparse 'hip n b' homage to pole dancers everywhere, "Back It Up" is an orgy of vocal samples and hardcore rave chaos and finally "Fight" is a testosterone-fuelled call to arms (bassy ones too!).

Review: A truly Euro release, this new collection from Finland's bass aficionados Top Billin, sees the label source hot upcoming Czech and Slovakian talent. Dryman kicks things of in a proper carnival fashion with the percussive frenzy of "Trombona", "Bratislava Bass" sees Bad Mojo look to 80s electro for inspiration, Mitewort's "Country Club" is all deep house, while Veit B "Night Rider" goes for hands in the air trance synths. However it's Side9000's storming bleepy electro-house number, "My Hood", that really steals the show.

Review: Finland's Top Billin fulfill their New Year resolutions by releasing their now traditional two January compilations. Hot on the heels of their 'Best Of 2012' collection, label co-founder Sir Nenis presents this assortment of bangers that didn't manage to fit on to any particular release last year. The quality's still right up there though, and highlights include the Chicago-ish stomp of "Cherry Lotion" by Fisky, haunted hip-house booty track "Ghetto Starr" by Top Billin and DJ Venum, the Inner City on downers vibe of "Yo" by Harkan and the melancholic retro rave of "Feel Good" by Fobator.

Review: Cripes! Top Billin' doesn't seem to even stop for Christmas! This latest is a compilation of their best releases from 2012, and considering their pretty hefty back catalogue, they had their work cut out for them. Boasting a whopping 25 tracks, the album's highlights include the Tropical campery of "Phil So Real", the glorious "Always Got My Back", the Future bass exoticism of "I Told Ya", the sparse and dreamy drum machine and soft pad heaven of "Find Your Love", the sci-fi ghetto beats of "Work It", the badass old skool house of "House Girl" and "Motion Elements (Snuff Crew remix)" and the blissed out Italo-disco ish "Shake Sitten (Kush Arora remix)".

Review: Another week, another top bass release from Dutch fellas Top Billin. This time, however, they've really pulled out the stops, finding possibly Japan's best (only?) bass-fiend, Keisuke Ito aka Broken Haze. Mixing up everything from bass and house to electro and dubstep, this EP is really on fire. Highlights include "Battles Of Empires" which sees ravey pitch-bent synths married to stomping reggaeton, the video game-meets-moombahton fest that is "Lightning Flash" and the bouncy tropical synth workout, "Air Castles".

Review: Top Billin are back with another of their fine collections of all things bass. This one purports to being all about the moombahton but, as a label they've always sided with the less cheesy side of things, so don't expect anything too EDM. Highlights of this 13-track opus include Euro-trance-hop opener, "Street Codes", the frankly weird "Moobahwine", the nasty synth driven reaggaeton of "Come In Di Dance", the repetitive and minimal "Bell Up" and the fizzy laser attack of "Galaxy Rays". Top Billin does it again.

Review: We'd love to say that the MF stands for Michael Flatley but with a name like DJ Venum, and sounds as bad-ass as these, we're a bit too scared to. So we'll just explain how the title track is one of the most twisted ghetto-house tunes you'll hear this year; wonky, loopy and creepy it's tendency towards techno is abundant (and pummelling). The same gritty mechanical soul can be found throughout; "The Ride Track" sounds like squat party techno pitched down ten per cent and "Bath Salts" tips a nod to Detroit. And just when you think it's too dark, "Now Party Break" takes a jingly soul snippet and lays it over a clunky double-kick house shuffle with sophistication and tenderness. Maybe we can say Michael Flatley after all?

Review: Having cut their teeth on tour with likes M.I.A., and counting Steve Aoki and Diplo as fans, Top Billin are on fire. The intention behind their new compilation, compiled by DJ Flipperi, was to present 'simply great music' irrespective of genre, but the cover shot of a pirate skeleton and parrot in a techno tunnel can only mean one thing: tropically tinged bass! We've got 11 top quality tracks here, ranging from the haunted garage of Volta Cab's "Make You Mine", to the minimal vocal and claps play of "Boccia" by Mieux! via the R 'n' G(oth) of Classi Assi's "Always Got My Back and the perhaps slightly cruel, crunk-funk warping of Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's "Summertime" by Wolfhaus. Boom!
