Review: We don't mean to alarm you but Jaxx has 'Left The Dome'. Where is he going? We don't know. Why was he even in the dome? We don't know. What exactly is the dome? We don't know. Should we care? Probably not because he's firing out baboy tunes like nobody's business regardless of whether he's in the dome or not. Especially on this EP. Highlights across this stinking six-track selection include the swaggering groove and grizzles of 'Which Could Be Worse?', the rattling slaps and killer spoken word sample of 'Sonic Booms' and the raw funk of 'In The Streets'. And that's just half the EP! Dome is where the heart is.

Review: The Train Recordings team have done a very good job with this latest compilation collection, welcoming 25 pulsating originals to the table across a wide range of artists. The range of production talents involved is pretty outstanding, with the likes of Ceph, Jaxx, Phantom Warrior, Insize Dub, Top Dolla and many more all providing welcome additions to the tracklisting. For us, there are a couple of immediate stand outs, from the industrial sounding drum designs and breathy percussive blows of 'Time To Go' from Spektral, to the sub-busting synth sizzles of Ickleman's 'Open The Hatch' and of course, the spooky organ leads of Dub General's 'World Of Confusion' to match. A very full collection indeed.

Voices - (6:20) 174 BPM
Navigator - (5:18) 58 BPM
Lionwood - (5:29) 175 BPM
Review: Train Recordings are definitely looking to up the levels with this one as they invite the grizzly sounds of Flat T inside, who has let loose a dizzying display of original drumsy flavour. We open up with 'Collection Point', a gnarly chop up off squelching synth stabs and highly intense drum lines, kicking the project off in style, before the almost acidic bass textures and constantly shifting percussive inverts of 'Java' wade into view. Both introductory tracks give us a pacey intro, with the more expansive synth work of the title track 'Voices' then following in crushing fashion, giving us a real stick of rave-ready ammunition. Finally, two secret weapons for the dance, with the grinding synthetic growls and eerie string leads of 'Navigator' first arriving to up the energy levels once again, before finally closing the project down on the mega-smooth harmonies of 'Lionwood', which through a combination of 80's style instrumentation and cluttered drumlines, gives us a final dash of finesse to sink away to!

Review: Full steam ahead! It's been a few years since we saw Brum's Illphaze on Train but he's back at the controls and he's blasting the whistle on full volume. Making up for lost time, "Mind Elements" comprises five tracks that range from flabby bass slammer ("Mind Elements") to slinky minimal tech steppers ("Nucleus") via off-the-wall twisted jump up funk ("Night Owl") Already supported on Noisia Radio in recent weeks, this whole EP is a welcome return. Let's hope it continues. We choo choo choose Train Recordings!

Time Machine
Time Machine - (5:14) 175 BPM
Potholes - (5:40) 175 BPM Hot
Complications - (4:28) 175 BPM
Seasons Change - (5:40) 175 BPM
Review: Let's get this baby up to 88... Jaxx wraps up his biggest year to date with four grizzled happy slapper jams. "Time Machine" rattles so hard you worry the Delorean doors will fly off. Riffy, rowdy and full of Bristol spirit, it's the perfect DJ tool for any surprise mix scenario. Deeper into the time trip we stumble in the deep drones of "Potholes", we're rattled and rolled by the venomous glitches of "Complications" before "Seasons Change" flattens us with pure bass elasticity. The final thing we need to do with this time machine is go back to the day Jaxx was born and shake his mum and dad by the hand and tell them he's going to be a jungle legend one day. Great scott!

MPW - "Jungle Stranger" - (5:56) 58 BPM
Review: Jaxx powers up his gully roller steam engine for the latest volume in his label's Off The Rails series and the results are off the scale. 14 tracks of deep, forthright rollage from a broad selection of respect talents ranging from certified OGs such as Suv to established dons such as Cabin Fever and Verdikt to bright young upstarts like K-Y and Zere, the collection is one of the best Train wrecks so far. Highlights include the tonal chaos of Zere's "Loophole", Suv's peaceful party piece "Instead Of War" and Warhead's brittle bass lash out "Static" but to be honest the entire collection needs your attention. Full steam ahead.

My Sound/Immortal Being
My Sound - (4:27) 175 BPM
Immortal Being - (4:27) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Dub General? Dub Superintendent more like. In a short amount of time the Natty Dub affiliate has achieved a sterling rep, and this full debut is proof. Coming on strong like a young Break with touches of Xtrah on the pristine tech aesthetic, "My Sound" is a slick roller with precision elements comprising more than their sum. "Immortal Being" continues this but with more swampy textures on the bass tones. Think DLR and Tyke with the lights down low. Timeless stuff that will work for flavourists across the gully smorgasbord.
