Review: We're only in August, but on the Orbit compilation, Tronic takes stock of the biggest tracks of the year so far. There's label owner Christian Smith's "The Future Is Ours", an infectious techno roller that unfolds to the sound of pulsating bass and a celebratory vocal sample, while on a deeper tip, Anna Reusch delivers the hypnotic tech-house of "Loose Your Mind". While the compilation features clubby contributions from label regulars like Drunken Kong, there are also some surprises where Tronic ventures into previously uncharted territories, such as Ian O'Donovan's symphonic "Rath Of The Synods" and Hannes Bieger's tripped out remix of Biz' "Psychotropic".

Review: Tronic unleashes its annual compilation, which as always contains the label's favourite tracks. "Luv Can Turn Around", a deep techy track from the late, great Pascal FEOS is a reminder of the many loved ones lost in the past year, while label owner Christian Smith's rolling rhythm and surging chords on "Hallucinate" signals a time in the near future when we'll be able to return to the dance floor. At the other end of the sonic spectrum Harry Romero delivers a bruising, jacking version of DJ Rush & Eric Sneo's "Take Me Back", while Sinisa Tamamovic's "Lost Memories" is a more intense iteration of that style, a steely, bleep-heavy techno track.

Review: Clocking in at over 60 tracks, Orbit is a look back at some of the standout releases on Tronic over the past year. The compilation covers a massive range of styles and moves from Eric Sneo and DJ Rush's ghetto techno collaboration, "Take Me Back", and the pounding tribal rhythms of Gaston Zani and Filterheadz' "Perspective" into more tranced out territories thanks to the emotive builds of "Tesla" from veteran German producer Oliver Lieb. There are plenty of other twists and turns here: label owner Christian Smith's long-standing studio partner Jon Selway delivers an excellent, rumbling electro take on Nematic's "Pecular", while Drunken Kong drops a throbbing tech-house groove in the form of "The Line".

Review: New and established artists feature on the eighth instalment of Tronic's Rocket seres, with a wide variety of dance floor styles on offer. Radu Dracul gets the compilation off to a frenetic start as epic synths crash in over the pulsating groove of "Alpha". Meanwhile, on "Rattlesnake", Locos & Jam opt for a different approach, with howling analogue riffs unfolding over a breakneck-paced, percussive rhythm. The Southern's "Shake Your Body" is more in keeping with the label's in-house sound, with a rolling tribal groove underpinned by relentless snares and repetitive vocal loops, while Kimono's "Taking Souls" is a frosty, techno-trance affair, with echoes of Mathew Jonson.

Review: Drunken Kong follow their 2017 debut album The Signs Within with this fine follow up. It starts off in tranced out mode on "Certain Reason", which sees a pumping groove and pounding kicks underpin evocative synths and mysterious vocals. Meanwhile on "Live & Create", a drum-heavy track provides the basis for dramatic filter sweeps and "Toro", their collaboration with label owner Christian Smith, sees them deliver a pounding, linear club track. At the other end of the spectrum, "This Is" sees the Japanese pair put their focus on electro and synth pop, with catchy hooks supported by rumbling 808s, while "See You Again" is a dreamy ambient piece.

Review: Having put out seven editions of the Rockets series so far, Tronic is now giving the featured artists the opportunity to remix one another. This has led to some fine results such as the pulsating Teenage Mutants & Heerhorst remix of Luca Marchese's "Transmit" and the plucked bass on Loco & Jam's take on D-Unity's "Feel". Rockets//Remixed #1 also caters to fans of tougher techno; for example, Eric Sneo delivers a drum-heavy version of Adoo's "Percussion Night", while Ron Costa's take on LAAT's "Take Me Back" sounds like an update on the rolling tribal techno that the label originally made its name with.

Review: Having released on most well known house labels - such as 20:20 Vision; Hypercolour and Aus - Michael Dodman aka Huxley delivers a tougher EP for Tronic. The title track is a grinding affair, with Huxley deploying a rough bass and razor-sharp percussion as evocative synths linger in the background. On "Have U", he opts for a more spacious arrangement that rolls to the sound of sonorous bleeps, dramatic synth drops and slurred vocal samples. "Hospitality" sees Huxley swing back towards house agin, with the arrangement underpinned by a chugging bass and shot through with organ riffs and subtle, filtered builds.

Review: Tronic hits the seventh instalment of its Rockets series and it turns out to be as lucky as the number itself. Like previous editions, it features tracks by new and established artists, united by a common desire to deliver dance floor satisfaction. This results in tranced out tracks from Anna Reusch and the well-known Ian O'Donovan as well as the long-serving Axel Karakasis dropping tough, looped techno alongside a newer production act, Kamara, who impress greatly with "Time Waits For No Man". Like previous instalments, number seven is also peppered with the kind of funky techno that Tronic is best known for, audible on Crazy Sonic's "Into the Ocean".

Review: 2019 has been a busy year for Tronic, and this compilation provides some of the highlights to date. There's DJ Rush & Eric Sneo's rattling percussive "Take Me Back", which draws on gritty ghetto techno for inspiration, while at the other end of the spectrum, the brilliantly named Drunken Kong duo drop a massive, bass-heavy big room workout in the shape of "Two Rivers". Orbit also provides a reminder of the label's heritage, with the shimmering, tranced out "Tesla" by veteran German artist Oliver Lieb, and Christian Smith's long-time friend and musical collaborator Jon Selway delivering an awesomely moody electro reshape of Nematic's "Pecular".

Review: Tronic introduced the Rockets series to introduce new artists as well as providing a platform for established producers. On this sixth volume, both groups are well-represented. Veterans like Kaiserdisco and Karotte come together to deliver the tranced out "Redneck", German DJ George Perry drops the tough tribal "Eptu" and the prolific Matt Sassari delivers a hypnotic disco house banger, "Minor Elixir". There are also some superb contributions from newer artists: Anton X's "Phoenix" is a hypnotic techno roller, with some neat trance undercurrents, while The Southern's "Skank" is redolent of the steely 90s rhythms of Detroit artists like Stacey Pullen.

Review: 2pole, who released their first EP on Tronic back in 2016, return to the label to deliver their debut album. While Christian Smith's imprint is known for its pursuit of dance floor abandon, 1ne is effective in articulating a nuanced approach to techno. This is in part thanks to a series of collaborations, including the spine-tingling trance of "Evolution", co-produced with the legendary Jam El Mar, the tribal house of "Run", where Ursula Rucker adds her unique poetic texts and the hypnotic minimalism that prevails on "Licht", with Smith himself bringing his vast experience to bare. In other instances, 1ne also showcases 2pole's own unique take on techno such as "Lethargie" where a rolling, squelchy groove veers into rave-fuelled psychedelia.

Review: Crazy Sonic aka Rudolf Wrany follows the recent Rain Drops release on Tronic with this hard-funking affair. The title track resounds to heavy stabs, dense drum patterns and wild, filtered drops. It's a heady, effective track that combines the infectious sound of disco-house with tough techno. On both "Earworm" and "The Peak", he opts for a deeper approach as atmospheric chords are filtered over a rolling, no-nonsense groove. The latter track in particular careers its way towards a dizzying climax. Proving that there are many ways to rock a dance floor, "Lost Nights" is an acid-burnt roller with vocal loops layered below the buzzing bee riffs.

Review: Felix Kroecher has put out music on Compressed, Terminal M and DJ Rush's Kne'Deep label, and now joins the ranks of Christian Smith's Tronic imprint. Free Yourself starts with the title track's fuzzy, filtered groove, which builds gradually and in a subtle fashion. On "Territory", the mood gets darker as the German producer uses a spiky minimal rhythm as a backdrop for menacing synth drops and builds, while on "Shadows", an unhurried, acid-tinged arrangement unravels against the back drop of a rolling groove. Tronic has also commissioned a remix of the title track, with the Hidden Empire duo turning the original into a wild, pulsating track.

Review: Tronic's Rockets series reaches its fifth instalment with another fine collection of material from new and established artists. Representing the emerging producers are Klaps, whose "Acid Head" is a wild, peak-time acid track that samples high-pitched vocals; The Southern, who deliver menacing, churning chords and heavier than lead drums on "Mystical Colobraro" and Sonate's relentless, pounding techno groove "Patchwork". Weighing in for the more experienced producers is German veteran Oliver Lieb with the dramatic chord builds of "Tesla" and the tough, detuned techno of Crazy Sonic's "Shining Pumpkins". Christian Smith's label deserves praise for supporting new and established artists alike.

Review: Denis A is a Moscow-based producer whose previous efforts have appeared on top labels like Bedrock or DAR, and he rather boldly claims that he is the founder of musical style known as 'hypnoteric'. The SPACE Moscow club musical director and resident serves up some surefire arsenal for the peak time on his new Quartet EP - which lunges straight for the jugular from the first beat. From the tension and suspense of the title track, that serves up some epic dancefloor drama straight off the bat - complete with hypnotic melody and glacial atmospherics throughout. It then receives and absolutely barrelling rework by ascendant Japanese producer Drunken Kong, who gives it the proper Drumcode treatment of old - this one is expertly executed for the peak time if we have ever heard it! Second original offering "Iceland" goes down a more progressive route on this slinky and hypnotic trance-inducer that is perfect to take down the energy on the dancefloor - when the morning sun starts to appear through the blinds.

Review: After releases on Terminal M and Suara, Saraceni returns to Christian Smith's label for a killer EP. The title track is an epic, big room affair that resounds to a growing low-end, an 'open your mind' vocal sample on a loop and effective, acid-led break downs. "Unconditioned Mindset" is deeper and more house-influenced, with the Italian producer dropping surging chords over tough drums and a rolling rhythm. For "Problem Solvent", the final track, he moves to the middle ground: the rhythm is robust and steely, while Saraceni lets layer upon layer of hypnotic synths and hypnotic bleeps unfold in harmonic unison.

Review: Kaiserdisco released their third artist album, Another Dimension, on Tronic last year, and now Christian Smith's label has commissioned a set of killer remixes of the album's highlights. First up is another German duo, Adana Twins, who turn "Veruna" into a tranced out, building affair, replete with dramatic chords and epic breakdowns. Given his pedigree as a no-nonsense techno producer, it's no surprise that Andre Crom's take on "Orcus" is a rolling, tribal affair that brings the listener back to the late 90s days of Tronic's party sound. Rounding off this remix release is another seasoned artist, Spain's Aitor Ronda, who transforms "Hydra" into an ominous, bass-heavy workout that has shades of vintage Joey Beltram.

Review: Christian Smith's label launches a welcome new initiative called Rockets, aimed at showcasing new acts alongside well-known artists. The series starts with the excellent, bugged out acid and pitch-bent vocals of Sinisa Tamamovic's "Way Back", before shifting to Smith and Harry Romero's brooding big room techno workout "Power of Future", where thunder claps and raucous filters have maximum impact. Moving back into unfamiliar territory, Matt Sassari and Gaston Zani provide a dubbed out take on minimal house with "Bullet Load", while Rob Hes also impresses with the cranium-crushing riffs of "Home". Here's to many more successful launches from the Tronic base.
