Review: Following up releases on Feines Trier, Katermukke and his local Distillery Records, Leipzig's Sebastian 'Schlepp' Geist has been tapped for the latest release on Berlin based URSL as part of their ten year celebrations . "Reframed Future" is a slinky and hypnotic serving of forward thinking deep house that receives a couple of equally worthy remixes. David Sorad takes the track down a wonky and off-kilter path, before teaming up with Sebo for a session in late night mood music.
Review: After releases on Visceral, Forward and Sound Avenue, German upstart Bookwood returns with this nifty three tracker, floating somewhere between deep house and electronica on Berlin's URSL.The 'Nowhere But Here' EP features the glassy-eyed and bittersweet feelings of "The (Un)happy Song" with its dreamy bells and hypnotic vocals captivating you, the hypnotic early morning dancefloor drama of "The Nightcrawler" and ending with the moody, pop-inflected vocal number that is the title track. The latter is a truly mesmerising one, that sounds like a cross between Fink and Julian Stetter - impressive!
Review: Minimal grooves from the melodic/progressive end of the spectrum are the order of the day on this latest EP from Germany's URSL label, which features five originals from Berlin producer Amount plus a remix of 'Schulze Boysen' by Kuriose Naturale. 'Marshmallow' itself is an unhurried affair with a pulsating synth lead taking centre-stage, 'Graudancer' is bassier, 'KarmaCream' is atmospheric and cinematic and 'Goldene Melange' veers towards full-blown prog territory, but these are fairly minor differences and generally speaking, if you're a fan of twisting, evolving synth-scapes you'll find much to enjoy here.
Review: Having served up terrific work from home grown talent such as Jurek Riegler, Marabou, and Kuriose Naturale, URSL return with Northern German, Berlin-based duo Kotelett & Zadak - who have appeared in recent times for top labels such as Katermukke, Exploited Ghetto and Poker Flat. It is truly mysterious dancefloor magick abound on the charming "Zarmina" which is followed by the bouncy trance-inducing journey track "Gelee Royale" which will mix in well with your Stil Vor Talent or Einmusika tracks for sure!
