Paranormal Activity EP
Review: Latte might not be everyone's cup of tea but we guarantee that one blast on these latest hellraisers and he'll most definitely be your cup of coffee. Hot, frothy and enough energy to keep you awake all day, this young newcomer is full of all the right flavour... The aromatic whiffy angst of "Fuming", the nutty grit of "Manners" and the full-bodied badness blend of "Arbzilla" are just three examples. Dark, rich, heavy; just like a good Latte should be. Don't ghost this one.

You VIP EP
Review: Pyro is unleashing an onslaught over on Unauthorized Audio with a tight sounding four-track EP. 'You' is a dark, moody stepper that doesn't care about rules and certainly doesn't care about feelings. The main bass on this tune oozes quality and packs some serious weight, reminiscent of the Souped Up crew. 'Smoke' is slightly less crazy but it definitely is still on the crazy end, as gargled bass notes inject a whole load of force into the arrangement and there's a wicked bit of MC work to boot. "I Luv Girls' is downright nasty, and 'Frequency' combines a sub-heavy bit of minimal work with some dirty foghorn business. Tasty.

Execute EP
Review: Introducing the sounds of Phenom and his Execute EP, a radical attempt to create jump-up so splintered and broken you'll barely recognise it. This is pure party music, there's no time for sophisticated conversations about Phenom's merits because you'll be too busy dancing to it. The title track epitomizes the extent of Phenom's madness here, a punched-out percussive line that underpins a grating force of progression and anger, perfectly crafted to give you goosebumps in the dance. The metallic quality to '1000 Dollars' is another highlight, and it's safe to say that with these four tunes Phenom has firmly placed himself on the jump-up map. Big tunes.

You EP
Review: Pyro is one of those artists who straddles that divide between rollers, jump up and jungle and he does it in proper style. He's now over on Unauthorised Audio and he's back with a five-tracker packed to the gills with subtle yet forceful rollers that carry a true sense of attitude. 'Frequency' is our favourite, with a really cool eight bar build up that ramps the tension that unleashes it in a deeply satisfying way, the bass nodes tumble over each other to try and grab your attention and it all comes out as this package of dancefloor pressure. Banging.

War Sounds EP
Review: Kontakt is a man who knows how to make a dancefloor damager, music which has a tendency to hit you in unforeseen ways and in unforeseen places. His War Sounds EP continues that trend and it does so in style, with four tracks that the KoTR would be happy to have made. The title track sets the tone for the rest of the release, with a short introduction that's clearly just an inconsequential appetizer for the main course, which is a destructive yet still harmonious expression of force. The other tunes are in a similar vein, not quite as good as the title track but still very much on point.

On The Flip Side
Review: We do love a good ol' collaboration EP as it's always nice to see artists coming together under the purview of a label in order to further each other's respective sounds. Tarz, Vital, Tee and Mass have done exactly that, the result being a wicked little EP that's full of variety from start to finish. Vital and Teej steal the show with 'Good Sensi', a bouncing number that's quaint yet full of that raw attitude which so endemic to D&B at the moment - a top, top tune. Lovely liquid also abounds on this release, Vital's 'Don't Pretend' had a superb melody, whilst Tarz's 'Abstract' kicks the whole release off in beautiful fashion. Definitely cop this EP.

Release The Funk EP
Review: Unauthorised bring a brand new talent to the fore; Magenta. New to the label but clearly not new to gully science; there's a unique offbeat funk to his sounds that cuts through the current jump up noise with class and style. "Release The Funk" catches floors unawares in the same way Zinc did many years ago, "Attack" is all about the off grid riff while "Attack" plays Asteroids with our senses as a series of drones and growls do a strange three way Q&A while UA mainstay Vital joins the party n "Lemonz", a sharp tangy riff blaster that's as trippy as it is heavy. Release yourself.

Speaker Shots EP
Review: What a time to be Vital! Not only has he just dented our souls with extended collections on Samurai Bass and Bass Legion, he's also returned to his local crew Unauthorised with this walloping six-tracker. It's all about the hooks this time: "Speaker Shots" is all bounce and badness, "Can You Read Me" is about the trippy metallic ricochet riff while "Brick Top" pays homage to everyone's favourite London gangster. Elsewhere both "Murder Dem" and "From The Dance" whisk us off our feet with heavyweight Serum-style groan tones while "Late At Night"closes with a lavish dribble of molten lasers and frog-like warped bass. Shots fired!

Deadly Zone EP
Review: Vital returns to Bournemouth bass HQ Unauthorised Audio with four supreme slicers. All tracks wholly focused on the bass riff, "Deadly Zone" cuts deep with rusty harmonic tones, "Heavyweight Sound" trims you down with a beautifully fat wobble on the bottom end, "Hot Of The Press" dices you to your bare bones with its blunt toxic bass while "Bruck It Up" carves you limb by limb with to the sound of a rubber ball bassline. Finally we have the stabber of the set: "Insane" where a freaky, ricochet bassline pings off the breaks and beneath a well-sculpted vocal sample. Cutty.

Institution EP
Review: Heavyweight hooks and blunderbuss bass through and through, rising UK new-gen artist Phenom makes his debut on Unauthorised Audio with four wide-ranging but hard-hitting flavours. "Institution" grunts with a Taxman-style high pitched bass texture, "Sweet N Sour" rises with more of a sense of mischief and a lower, subby bass hook that's reminiscent of the old Full Cycle sound and "Drug Dealer" offers no refunds with its hard-hitting, relentless sandpaper riff energy. Finally "One Man's Vision" leaves us on a high and wanting more thanks to its Tyke-style left-sided quirk. You can't say phenomenon without saying Phenom.
