Review: Garage and house veteran, Jeremy Sylvester, has been banging out killer UK dance records since the early 90s. Now Urban Beats are reissuing his best stuff and this album features 11 tunes and a bonus DJ mix from the man himself. All the tunes here have aged extremely well; from the synth heavy hysterical-house workout of "No Longer Will I Be your Fool", to the sax-heavy garage anthem "Baby Ooh" via the disco-garage of "Don't Make Me Wait' and even Sylvester's own moody remix of Masterbuilders' "Man Cannot Rise".

Review: Nope, not the veteran Miami freestyle legend, this Stevie B is a modern Londoner intent on bringing back the vibes of the 90s house era. Taking a leaf from labelmate and classic house producer Jeremy Sylvester, this EP is the nearest thing to a time machine we have yet to discover. "Chain Of Links" is a mid tempo slammer that gives Gypsy Woman a run for its money. "Wanna Ride" is perkier yet somehow deep, "Caress Moi" is a garagey looped-house monster and finally "Feels So Good" takes all the above and layers some druggy vibes and sustained strings for some trippy party joy!

Review: UK garage scene stalwart and noted pseudonym collector Jeremy Sylvester has been spoiling us of late, offering up a series of expansive compilations of his own productions and remixes under the Garage House Underground banner. Here he delivers volume three, a fine 19-track collection of cuts that combine classic UKG tropes - think weighty bass, organ riffs and manipulated vocal samples - with nods towards classic deep and soulful house. Highlights come thick and fast throughout, but our picks include the bumpin', mid-90s garage bustle of 'I'll Be There (Ldn Dub Vocal Mix)', the sparkling and sun-kissed soulfulness of Matt Early's remix of 'Don't Want To Let You Go', the warped bass and fizzing stabs of 'Let's Do The Bump (Vocal Mix)', and the hands-in-the-air rush of 'Juicy Red Apple'.

Review: When it comes to quality garage compilations, there haven't been many imprints doing it with as much flair as the Urban Dubz team, who here unveil the fourth edition of their highly converted 'Garage House Underground' release series. This time around, they deliver another fourteen rave-ready creations, with a roster boasting the likes of Jeremy Sylvester, Concinnity, Le Smoove and more, with the overall tracklisting finding that perfect fusion of nostalgia and newschool with relative ease. The whole tape is a treasure chest of dancefloor gems in our eyes, with particular highlights including the euphoric chord progressions and groovy bass riffs of Dominic Bullocks 'Upbeat Groove', which really does supply us with some throwback energy, alongside the super smooth pad work of Concinnity and Derreck Da House on 'All It Takes'. If you find the time, this project most certainly benefits from a long play experience!

Review: Now an A&R for Urban Dubz, Jeremy Sylvester was one half of 2-step heroes Club Asylum. Here he curates a retrospective of old skool 2-step and UK garage. As a first hand authority on the subject he totally nails it - selecting 16 corkers largely all produced by himself (well we did say he was an authority...). Highlights include the otherworldly, space-age 2 step of Club Asylum's dub of Troy Denari's "Step A Little Closer", the hypnotic and steppy electro breaks of Electro 2's "Steppin Riddim" and the sultry growling sleaze of Future Stepperz' rework of "Turn Me On".

Review: The Time Takers come through infuriatingly correct with the tune that's being rinsed on radio stations left, right and centre. "You Got Me Now" is difficult not to grow fond of thanks to its addictive groove, winding melodies and alluring vocals by none other than the beautiful Marine. We also get two clubbier remixers from Jeremy Sylvester and Club Asylum respectively. Don't sleep on this one!

Review: Here we have a sizzling new two-tracker hot on the heels of the house and garage veteran's recent 'best of' collection. "I Love This City" is sumptuous disco-tinged retro-garage, which is filtered to within an inch of its life (to great effect). The 'deep dub mix' of "All Night Long" is a deeper and dreamier strain of house, while the 'JS Bumpy dub' tweaks the former into a perkier, snazzy-garage workout.
