Review: When we see new releases land in the store, we like to explore the names aren't as familiar with first, which is why we instantly fell in love with this latest drop from the Vantage crew. We kick this one off with the trap-like drum rolls and bubbling 808 bass tones of 'Days End' before 'Don't Sleep' combines unusual digital signals with more bassy goodness. We dive down a smoother avenue next as 'Quelle Vie' showcases some excellent melodic sampling, before we touch down on the chilled out harmonies and lingering bass textures of 'Persan Beaumont' to wrap this one up.
Review: First he links us up, now LX One is spinning us out and darking us up on the second outing for exciting new label Vantage. As you'd expect, it's a broad vista as LX One rolls out more soundscapes from his viewpoint. "Get Head Spun", a collaboration with man-of-the-moment Cimm, lives up to its title; swampy and just on the right side of savage, rather than going for the jugular it tickles before it slaps you with toxic bassweight. "Darker Ground" also boasts a fitting moniker as we're body slammed with symphonic stabs, trippy textures and stark moments of chilling minimalism. Serious dancefloor advantage.
Review: We were very excited to see this one land the in store as we see the legendary LX ONE kick start his brand new label project 'Vantage Recordings' with an absolute womper alongside Killa P. The pair combine perfectly on 'Link Up', with LX ONE's dark, gritty instrumental structures allowing Killa P to run riot with his highly impactful patois flows. On remix duty, Icicle emerges from the shadows with a powerful techy reimagining of the original recording, layering his uniquely crispy neurotic sounds in the mix with serious power.
