Review: Out of Australia Andy Hart's Voyage label has been drawing up a new picture of exotic new age and electronic sounds since 2014 with a highlight of releases from Uluru, Albrecht La'Brooy, and most recently Rings Around Saturn. The label now introduces the sweet, sublime and subtle ambient sounds of newcomer Huerta in what could be considered a crowning release of the label so far. This superb debut album presents a swathe of sweet, twinkling synths and mellow undertones of warms pads and smooth leads that dive into an unknown world of wildlife flitted with sketches of house, breakbeats, percussion and tribalistic dub. Take a trip into the undergrowth a new age future music.

Circling Architecture - (5:50) 132 BPM
Engineered Ruins - (7:44) 125 BPM
Decompression - (9:01) 128 BPM
The Edgelands - (5:24) 120 BPM Hot
Review: As Rings Around Saturn, Rory McPike has a fine track record of joining the dots between deep space ambient, early '90s IDM, mind-altering ambient techno and the kind of evocative, otherworldly deep house that seems to float from the speakers on a wave of marijuana smoke. "Circling Architecture" naturally offers up ear-pleasing cuts that mine many of the same influences, from the attention-grabbing chord sequences, bubbly electronics and laidback breakbeats of "Engineered Ruins", to the intergalactic but bass-heavy bustle of "Decompression" and the opaque early morning hypnotism of "The Edgelands", which is one of the deepest and most alluring house cuts we've heard for some time. Title track "Circling Architecture", an electro and IDM inspired bubbler, is also superb.

Seminyak Dream - (5:39) 120 BPM
Lilli's Dream - (5:44) 125 BPM
Review: Melbournian producer Katie Campbell has turned a few heads since donning the Roza Terenzi alias last year. She's yet to put out a duff release and this latest excursion - her first for Aussie label Voyage - is every bit as alluring as its predecessors. Check, for example, the rubbery deep house funk of opener "Weakest Link", where far-sighted bleep melodies and alien synths dance gently above an elastic groove, or the far-out late night hustle of analogue-rich workout "Seminyak Dream", which sounds like the Mood Hut crew making 1990 bleep techno. The EP also boasts a luscious slab of dusty deepness (the wonderfully spacey "Lill's Dream") and a bustling, sub-bass heavy tweak of "Weakest Link" by regular Campbell collaborator D. Tiffany.

Mellow Yellow - (4:20) 118 BPM
Mushroom Valve - (5:49) 122 BPM
Flight Pattern - (5:49) 125 BPM Hot
Review: Urulu is a DJ/producer based in Berlin that is no stranger to Andy Hart's Melbourne based label. The Californian (real name Taylor Freels) previous released Greetings From Namek on the label back in 2016, in addition to further killer cuts for the likes of Amadeus and Saft. Mushroom Valve EP features four quality tunes that explore the American's newfound love of acid sounds: from the funky breaks driven groove of "Body Drum", the neon-lit ambient house of "Mellow Yellow" awash in shimmering FM synthesis tones, or "Flight Pattern" where he really saves the best for last. This rough and bouncy number is just as looped-up and dusted down as we like our house music.

Escape Velocity - (8:37) 116 BPM
Gravity Assist - (6:57) 119 BPM Hot
Memories - (5:52) 114 BPM
Review: Up next on Melbourne's Voyage Direct imprint are a couple of homeboys - namely Alexander Albrecht and Sean La'Brooy, following up great releases on the label recently by Flori and Youandewan. The pair's improvised electronic music has also appeared on fellow Aussie imprint Night Tide and of course their own Analogue Attic in recent times. Four brilliant servings of emotive house: from the evocative, spaced-out mood of "Escape Velocity", to the deep classic techno of "Gravity Assist" (calling to mind the early sounds of Detroit and Sheffield) or the bittersweet closer "Memories" - which is lush deep house just the way we like it.

Life Signs - (7:10) 131 BPM Hot
Alone On Point Lake - (4:03) 138 BPM
Pink Cliffs - (7:40) 129 BPM
Review: Melbourne's Voyage are back with more classic house sounds for nostalgics, courtesy of London's Flori: flying solo here after a successful run of tracks with sparring partner Ethyl. An ode to the unexplored landscapes of Mars (as the label puts it), Flori 'uses a refined aesthetic, not dissimilar to the original star gazers of Detroit, to imagine and encapsulate the reality of being alone on Point Lake.' We couldn't have said it better ourselves. More soulful and emotive techno from yesteryear is finally executed on the splendid "Alone On Point Lake" up next. To close out the EP is one more serving of evocative hi-tech soul in the form of "Pink Cliffs" that calls to mind classic sounds on pioneering imprints such as Planet E, Peacefrog and Strobe back in the day.

Review: Scotsman in Berlin Ewan Smith aka Youandewan is back, after releases on the likes of 2nd Drop, Ornaments and Secretsundaze but this time for Australian label Voyage. Kicking off with some high tech soul in the form of "Ciel" traversing that same universe as Space Dimension Controller, he then gives us the emotive, slow-mo deep electro of "Vessel" featuring spacey pads, huge bass pulsations and dreamy melodies. Finally "Stranger (Glad Eye mix)" gets into some dusty, jazzy/soul business but still keeping that beautifully bittersweet melancholia intact like before. Watch out for his upcoming LP on the mighty AUS too!

Review: Having contributed a track to the split EP that announced Voyage Recordings, founder Andy Hart has since largely focussed on building the label through some canny A&Ring that's seen singles from the likes of Harvey Sutherland, M5K and Urulu. There was the introduction of Hart's Auslander project with Tom Lalley and Fantastic Man in the label's 2015 output too, but the recently-settled Berlin resident hasn't offered up any solo output in some time! Which makes the clutch of brushed deep house burners that feature on this Mistress of your Mind EP most welcome indeed Andy. There are hints that Hart's new surrounds and regular gigs in Berlin are starting to bleed through into his productions - see the heat-treated "Sorayama's Mistress" and full throttle percussive onslaught of "Vienen." It's a development we wholeheartedly approve of!

Orion - (5:31) 122 BPM Hot
9045xy - (5:32) 79 BPM
Lullaby - (3:53) 115 BPM
Review: Having made a significant impression via killer releases from Harvey Sutherland, M5K and Auslander, Voyage Recordings attempts to enhance their reputation further via a four-track blast of bumpin' deepness from Steve Urulu. The journeyed Los Angeles producer hits the mark from the off, combining swinging, low-slung beats and fluid, looped pads on floor-friendly opener "Night Tube". An extended bongo passage gives way to dreamy chords and tactile, late '80s style synth bass on the spacey "Orion", before the horizontal rush of IDM/ambient house tribute cut "9045xy" takes over. The EP's final moment, the wonderful "Lullaby", continues on this theme, expertly combining drowsy, drifting chords, starry electronics and a speaker-rattling sub-bass line.

Auslander
Auslander - (7:09) 118 BPM Hot
Auslander (Pm dub) - (6:58) 120 BPM
Auslander (First Contact) - (4:53) 111 BPM
Review: Auslander is a collective that's arisen from Melbourne's killer party scene. Comprising Fantastic Man, Tom Lally and (the recently relocated to Berlin) Andy Hart, together they pursue an agenda of pure, hard, jackin machine music. "Auslander" is a carouseling slice of Moroder-style argpeggiated electro-disco that rinses the 808s for extra badness. It's the "PM Dub" however, that wins in the badass stakes, being seven minutes of cold, hard body music complete with new wave noise and trippy interruptions. The Jean Michele Jarre-isms come to the fore on the 70s BBC workshop -style "First Contact" version. Essential.

Review: Melbourne's M5K is a producer known for creating deep and warm music for late night Oceanside swaying under palm trees. This latest release continues the good work with six richly crafted tunes to get lost in. Some of the many highlights here include gentle opener "Sassy Typhoon" a dreamy classic Chicago influenced jam that boasts the softer pads than Always Ultra. Further on "No Time For Sheisty Types" is a lean and moody 808 fest and "Rockaway" is the sound of two vintage synths copulating to some warped 80s RnB. So warm its cool.

Review: Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Voyage Recordings are a new label with a thing for the deeper side of life. That's all good with us, especially when it's as slickly produced as the four tracks found here. With all their key artists making appearance, we get gently washed out to sea on tranquil waves of slo-mo dance starting with CTEPEO 57's jazzy, stoned-house, the velvety smoocher "Rosebud", the lean and serene bliss-house of "Dreams on Kepler" and moody electro-house closer "Gravy". Slick!
