Review: Vulcan Venti is a new joint venture operating between Paris and Melbourne (Australia, not Florida) and if their inaugural release is anything to go by: it certainly pursues the latter city's obsession for all things cheekily retro and neon-lit. From tribal rhythms to eastern melodies, this is their interpretation of a dance floor at its best. The pounding '80's styled groove of "Jhe Gu Jye" is the kind of jam you could imagine Axel Foley steppin out to on Beverly Hills Cop, complete with gated reverb and backing vocals for added authenticity. Classic electro sounds merging with Eastern rhythms and other touches of the exotic to be found on the odd mixture that is "Ricochet" while the bouncy groove of "Eep" is the kind of retroactive jam the likes of Lena Willikens would smash out in the club.
