Review: Border Crossing is Steven Blair's third outing for Vusumzi and offers an unusual take on techno. The title track maintains a steady pace and is supported by tough, pounding kicks. However, what really stands out here are the other elements - the shrill percussive touches, warped vocal samples and abstract, glitchy textures that hang over the arrangement like a shadow. On "The Sampler Guide", the UK producer again displays his unusual approach to production. Like the title track, he again provides a tough, driving backing as the basis, but the searing bass, tight claps and tripped out vocal sample all mean that this release will stand out from the pack.
