Emerging from the London underground in 2012, W&O Street Tracks is more than just a record label – it's a pulsating hub for the city's vibrant house and techno scene. Founded by Waze & Odyssey, the dynamic duo poured their passion for groove-laden beats into a platform that championed their own productions alongside a diverse roster of rising talents.
Beyond their own productions, Waze & Odyssey have become tastemakers with an ear for spotting hidden gems. Their roster boasts an impressive array of artists, from the soulful melodies of Sage Caswell to the driving techno of Ejeca. Citizenn's deep house explorations and XXXY's genre-bending basslines add further flavour to the label's diverse sonic tapestry. Rising talents like Lancelot and Kill Frenzy find their home alongside established figures like Ejeca, proving W&O Street Tracks' commitment to both nurturing new voices and celebrating seasoned veterans.
With each release, W&O Street Tracks carves its own path, pushing the boundaries of house and techno while staying true to its underground roots.
Review: Australian producer Lance 'Lancelot' Gurisik had something of an impressive debut year in 2014, releasing a trio of acclaimed deep house singles on Anjunabeat. Here, he transfers to W&O Street Tracks with more atmospheric, evocative, late night fare. He begins with the title track, a dreamy and hugely enjoyable blend of drifting chords, tactile synth-bass and loose, cymbal-heavy percussion that benefits greatly from an extended breakdown. Things get a little livelier on "Everything On Its Way Down" - think hissing percussion, darting melodies and smooth powder house bottom-end - while the sun-kissed "Closer" achieves a near perfect balance between bass-heavy dancefloor hedonism and crystal clear melodic fluidity.
