Review: 2024 has been a busy year for Oscar Mulero. Following the release of his album Have You Ever Retired A Human By Mistake, he now drops a second long player. Viaje Interior brings together seemingly incompatible aesthetics - hypnosis and abrasion, abstraction and dynamism. In Mulero's world, these positions align seamlessly. In places, the album touches on haunting ambience - "Laberinto" and "On A Journey Under Your Skin" - as well as dubby influences on "Presencia Ausente". At times, introspective moments are augmented with rolling, minimal drums and rasping percussion, as is the case on "En Un Circulo Vicioso" and "Inancanzable Vision". Mulero also gives his audience a reminder of his ability to deliver cranium-splitting techno, most impressively on the jarring "Prueba Y Error" and "Reestructuracion Regresiva". But it's the intersection where Viaje Interior is at its most memorable - as the chiming bells and rolling groove of "Dialogo Con La Realidad" and the tripped-out pulses of "Amor Era Espacial" so effortlessly demonstrate.

Review: Boundaries follows 2023's Unconscious Bias long player and sees Pyramidal Decode turn his attention to the subject of our natural environment. "Climate Change (Limit 01)" resounds to hypnotic tones, while "Stratospheric Ozone Depletion (Limit 03)" is an atmospheric ambient arrangement. "Novel Entities (Limit 02)" also has no beats, but it is characterised by chilling sequences. These tracks all suggest that Boundaries may be a reflective work, but there is another side to it. On "Atmospheric Aerosol (Limit 04)", Pyramidal Decode drops a spiky rhythm that bristles with steely percussive intensity, while "Ocean Adification (Limit 05)" is a heads-down Mills-style banger. He also explores techno's outer limits, with "Biogeochemical Flows (Limit 06)" veering into the kind of tonal hypnosis that Mike Parker favours. While our environment may face uncertainty, it sounds like experimental techno is safe in Pyramidal Decode's hands.

Review: Translate debuts on Warm Up with an EP that ventures to the farthest depths of electronic music. Admittedly, "Vertex" resounds to tough kicks and frazzled filters, but its groove is fluid and rolling. It's also an outlier on this release. For the most part, Translate explores esoteric sounds. "Scattering" sees him focus on a cacophony of hypnotic bleeps - it could pass for a transmission from a lost universe. The title track is of a similar persuasion, with mysterious, layered sound scapes floating over a loose, tribal rhythm. On "Syntaxi", he voyages once again to the outer limits, signposted by repetitive tones and a minimal beats. It makes for a masterclass in mind-altering techno.

Review: Have You Ever... is Oscar Mulero's first album under his own name in five years. Issued on his own Warm Up imprint, it sees him focus on the dance floor. Both "A Hundred Baby Spiders Came Out" and the title track set the tone for the release. Led by stark, steely rhythms and eerie stabs, they tingle with austere Millsian funk. The same sensibility runs through "Take The Pleasures From The Serpent", where machine gun percussive bursts are set to dense, dubbed out drums. "Same Answers The Rest of Us Want" sees Mulero retreat into a more esoteric place thanks to its cacophony of tonal bleeps. But it's only a temporary divergence, as the discordant tones of "Orange Body, Green Legs" so brilliantly demonstrate.

Review: Oscar Mulero recruits another talented producer to Warm Up, with Alberto Pascual aka Ribe delivering an exceptional release. The title track is a pulsating, throbbing groove, featuring a wall of hypnotic bleeps and tones that gradually rise in intensity. Ribe favours a different approach on the ominous "Shapes", where a cavernous dub aesthetic is fused with a rolling rhythm. Meanwhile, "Ad Infinitum" is a more abstract piece, with fractured beats combined with layered textures. Pascual veers back towards the dance floor for the drum-heavy " Device" and "Distinct", a lean, skeletal rhythm that features grinding riffs and grayscale textures. Mulero also weighs in on remix duties, providing two robust takes of "Ad Infinitum".

Review: Mike Storm traces his roots back to the 90s club scene, and this background is audible on his debut release for Oscar Mulero's Warm Up. "Any Strong Way" is a relentless percussive techno track that resounds to ferocious hi hats and visceral kicks, while on "Into A Human Mind", Storm goes for a more subtle approach, with a hypnotic, bleep-laden Sahko-style groove. On "Power Distance", he channels the influence of dub techno to create an understated, throbbing groove, while "Constant Battle", sees him pick up the pace to conjure up a mesmerising combination of solid kicks and eerie textures.
