Set The Roof
Demuro - (5:01) 138 BPM
Review: When you see Hudson Mohawke and Nikki Nair are in town, you know you are in for one hell of a ride, as the pair combine for a collection of rave-ready anthems, juiced to the max with original dancefloor energy. First up, Tayla Parx unloads a vibrant vocal skip through moogy bass tones and catchy chord progressions of 'Set The Roof', which certainly sets the high energy tone. Next, the disorientingly glitchy melodic pings and drum syncopation of 'More Recently' sends us down an entirely different avenue of creativity, with the sundrenched melodic scoops and abstract sound design of 'Demuro' gives us a bubbly finisher.

Takashi - (5:51) 138 BPM
Actually Virtual (feat Shabazz Palaces) - (1:58) 139 BPM
Review: Warp Records present the sixth album by famed American producer Flying Lotus. For the Flamagra LP, the Los Angeles-based artist (real name Steven Ellison) said that he had gathered different material from over the past five years to present on this LP - and he had considered creating a thematic album with a fire concept during that time. A wide selection of moods and grooves are delivered in his idiosyncratic and multifaceted style, with a real 'who's who' in terms of guests. From the blunted urban flavour of "More" (ft. Anderson .Paak), the lo-slung P-funk attack of "Burning Down The House" (ft. George Clinton) through to more abstract soundscape/spoken word pieces like "Fire Is Coming" featuring the one and only David Lynch (this one was said to be a huge influence on the album's aesthetic, Ellison said) and also the good old fashioned soul power of "The Climb" (ft. Thundercat).

Blue Train Lines (Nina Kraviz Tool 1) - (3:46) 136 BPM
Blue Train Lines (Nina Kraviz Tool 2) - (7:44) 136 BPM Hot
Review: Hot on the heels of their recent acclaimed recent album, Love What Survives, Mount Kimbie get the remix treatment from some of underground electronic music's most respected producers. On this first instalment, Trip boss Nina Kraviz gets to grips with "Blue Train Lines". On the main mix, she loops a snippet of King Krule's original vocal over a heads-down rhythm track. Kraviz sounds like she was inspired by the modern purism of labels like Frozen Border and Horizontal Ground, and while the Russian producer's two dense looped remixes on the flip side, it's this stern but funky interoperation that really stands out.

Blue Train Lines
Blue Train Lines (Nina Kraviz main mix) - (8:06) 136 BPM
Review: "Blue Train..." is a taster for Mount Kimbie's third album, Love What Survives, and sees the production pair make the move into angst ridden electronic pop. Teaming up with singer King Krule, Mount Kimbie put down layer upon layer on white noise and drones as a back drop for the UK singer's howling, haunting vocals. Followed by rolling break beats and humming guitars, it's exactly the kind of track that will win them a while new fan base in the live music scene. Despite King Krule's claim that "I mighta seen it all", rest assured that thanks to Blue Train Lines, most of Mount Kimbie's highlights lay ahead of them.

Review: Since first emerging on Hotflush at the tail end of the last decade, Mount Kimbie has navigated the post-dubstep landscape better than almost any other act. It says something about their transformation into hard-to-define electronica heavyweights that Love What Survives, their third full-length and second for Warp manages to be both surprising (there are subtle nods towards titans of post-punk pop and rock, for starters) and exactly what you'd expect. They're masters of fusing disparate styles, sounds, textures and beat patterns into beautiful hybrid shapes, and this kind of 21st century fusion is evident throughout. Naturally, there are a few notable guest appearances dotted throughout, with James Blake's two contributions amongst the album's many highlights.

Review: Ross Birchard has been such an omnipresent figure on modern electronic music as Hudson Mohawke it seems strange to think Lanterns is only his second album. A lot has happened in the world of Hud Mo in the six 6 years since his Warp issued debut set Butter (hello Kanye) and the 14 track Lanterns comes across as a more compelling and adventurous album from the Scottish producer. Featuring some interesting guest appearances (Anthony Hegarty, Irfane, Miguel, Ruckazoid, Jhene Aiko) it's clear Lanterns is being presented as a chance for Birchard to reach the next level, and packs in a whole load of musical ideas along the way.

Review: While his Numbers contemporaries Jackmaster and Hudson Mohawke have been courting international superstardom (the latter soundtracking Apple ads and working with Lil Wayne and Drake), Rustie has stayed true to his roots. This second full-length - the follow-up to acclaimed 2011 debut Glass Swords - proves that it was a wise strategy. Green Language is a storming set, delivering blends of crunk, wonk-hop, 8-bit electronica, grime and post-dubstep rhythms that bristle with intergalactic synths and glassy-eyed, late night swagger. Rustie has carved out a niche of his own that's increasingly hard to define, but one that guarantees thrilling, next-level music. Green Language proves that emphatically.

City Star - (3:08) 136 BPM
Review: The Glaswegian's highly anticipated album on one of underground music's finest labels comes not a moment too soon. The 13-track album kicks off with the eponymous track of the album "Glass Swords" sets the tone for the piece, which quickly manifests itself to be a glorious fusion of R&B, hip-hop, dubstep, UKG, techno and even more esoteric sub-genres. Highlights from across the selection include the euphoric trance-tinged "Hover Traps", psychadelic "Ultra Thrizz" with its dubstep swagger and firing synths and lush "After Light". Glass Swords really is an album of our time, and we really urge you to check this one out.

Satin Panthers
Thunder Bay - (3:18) 136 BPM
Review: Acclaimed Glaswegian beatsmith Hudsom Mohawke continues his relationship with electronic music heavyweights Warp with a distinctly positive sounding mini-album. For those who've followed the Numbers man's blossoming career, the musical contents of Satin Panthers will be no surprise - though the sheer wide-eyed bliss and rush-inducing feel of tracks like "Octane" and "All Your Love" - a brilliant fusion of starburst electronics, sped-up vocal samples and snappy percussion - may thrill more than usual. Throughout, there's a rainbow-tinted, high definition finish that ensures a life-affirming feel so often previously lacking from the earnest Glaswegian's rhythmically complex works. As a result, Satin Panthers is a delirious blast of fresh air.
