Review: Up next on Well Street is Toupaz with an offbeat take on techno. "Shapeshift" starts the release to the sound of hollowed out, jittery percussion and ambient noise occupying the middle distance. This abstract arrangement is held together by a brooding bass and a stepping rhythm. "Bad Habits" ventures farther down the left-of-centre rabbit hole courtesy of a stop-start groove and a tapestry of found sounds. "Gaudy" marks a return of sorts to the dance floor, albeit one that is powered by a swung rhythm and a cacophony of chants. However, it's only a temporary distraction and "Maudlin Lakitu" is a downtempo, reflective piece.
