Review:
Brooklyn label Wolf + Lamb introduce its fans to the sounds of Aquarius Heaven, who graced the deep-house-with-a-twist Circus Company imprint earlier this year. A project of former reggae, dancehall and hip- hop singer Brian Brewster, the Aquarius Heaven sound is a perfect match for W+L: deep, stripped back, sleazy and sultry in equal measure. Digital only opener "Interview" is followed by "Can't Buy Love", which boasts some amazing vocal elements. Then comes the stripped back bounce of "Keep On", the deep acid squiggles of "Summer Love" and, finally, the swampy, thick techno atmospherics of "Stop" - probably the weirdest, and, in our opinion, best track on this EP.

Review:
The Under The Covers EP is a collaborative project started by David Marston and Brigitte Zozula. During an impromptu rehearsal session, Marston and Zozula decided to record reinterpretations of songs they had previously written and performed together - fusing elements of disco, jazz, reggae, dub and Latin music. They then brought in frequent collaborators Adam Francis (bass), Aquiles Navarro (trumpet) and Morgan Wiley of Midnight Magic (keys) to help them bring the covers to life. The musicians have varied backgrounds, but their friendship and musical synergy helped them to create beautiful and sonically diverse versions of the songs. The material on the EP consists of a rework of their last hit "Pussy", originally written by Marston with Wolf + Lamb regular Nick Monaco, "Trust Me", written/composed by Marston and Zozula, and some songs inspired by African soul ballads.

Review:
Baltimore duo Life On Planets are a dynamic live act who have released exclusively on Wolf + Lamb and its offshoot Double Standard over the last couple of years. Bringing more of their captivating live jams to tape on another fine release for the label in the form of "Denali" whch is a deep and funky exercise in lo-slung soul. It gets a great remix too courtesy of London duo Lowheads who give it a neon-lit retro house makeover injected with dusty analogue drums, evocative vintage strings and a seriously chunky Juno 106 bassline. A handy instrumental version follows too, for those of you less keen on the vocals.

Review:
Hailing from Baltimore, Life On Planets brings his latest offering via NYC's Wolf + Lamb Records. While the title track is not his first release for the Brooklyn based label, it surely stands out as an advanced extension of the young musician's distinctive, soulful sound. Now, he makes his long-awaited return and seeks to further harness his creative pursuit with lead single "The Maze" by encapsulating a matured musical landscape. The track quickly evolves into a tech house number filled with R&B-tinged sensibilities. A driving 4four to the floor rhythm supplies a platform for minimal percussion, lush chords and his longing narrative: all displaying an undeniable musical prowess that dives deep into the soul.

Despite the pretty bling name, Nick Monaco's music suggests that he's more Dalston Basement than West End. The deep and hypnotic, vocal chant-houser "Private Practice" is a perfect teaser for forthcoming LP Mating Call, suggesting that this veteran of labels like Dirtybird and Soul Clap has perfected his own form of evocative house. There's also an unplugged (or "unclubbed") version included as well as jazzy deep disco number "I Can't Breathe Without You", which gets a tribal overall by Wolf + Lamb themselves.

Review:
San Francisco's Nick Monaco brings his experiences within his hometown's nightlife culture into his own 'carefree, cosmic experimental pop sound', recently heard on his album Half Naked for Soul Clap's Crew Love label. Here he collaborates his fellow Crew Love alumnus David Marston from Kingston, Jamaica for the rather explicit "Pussy". Its risque lyrics are contrasted by an addictive modern synth-pop accompaniment with smooth arpeggios, soaring synth leads and rusty machine rhythms.

Review:
In typical Wolf + Lamb fashion, New York duo No Regular Play defy easy categorization. While their sound is rooted in the touchy-feely house and electrofunk-influenced deep-pop so beloved of the label, they offer far more than straightforward dancefloor thrills or 21st century synth-pop vibes. Endangered Species, their debut album, does its best to sidestep convention. The results are, by and large, enjoyable, coming on like a cross between Soul Clap, Prince and Benoit & Sergio. There are excursions into wonky hip-house, synth-funk and pure pop territory, as well as cuts that refuse to stick to one designated groove.

Review:
Too Dramatic is glassy-eyed dance-pop combo No Regular Play's first new material for longtime home Wolf + Lamb for two years. The title track sets the tone, lacing droning vocals, occasional stabs, subdued electric pianos and woozy electronic noises over a shuffling, tech-tinged groove. Former Rong Music man Woolfy provides the obligatory remix, utilizing classic disco beats and bouncy melodies to give the original a much more energetic feel. Elsewhere, "Swim On" is a fine chunk of fluorescent synth-funk with a slightly blazed feel, while "Fire Alright" fixes smooth pianos and hazy vocals to skittering Chicago house handclaps and 808 electro rhythms.

Review:
Wolf & Lamb's own Slow Hands aka Ryan Cavanagh is back on the successful deep house label with a new cut, and a bunch of remixers, to boot. "I'll Find Me" is a delicate bit of house magic, almost Latin in its instrumentation and contains the most seductive vocals we've heard form the man, vocals that take the tune to almost pop levels. The first remix comes from masters Soul Clap, who turn things deeper and strip the arrangement of the majority of vocals; this is followed by an even deeper and moodier dub cut form the duo. Label heads Wolf + Lamb also turn in their own reinterpretation, more of an edit than a remix, and you also get a live version from Gold Town, perhaps the most memorable piece on here. Nice!
