Review: Has Trakker yet to drop a duff tune? We don't think so. Over the last few years he's pulverised us with a slew of timeless hurricane tunes that manage to tip their cap towards the roots and a whole range of present sounds. Authentic to the point he can appear on Sofa Sound one minute and Natty Dub the next, here we find him on his own Wrong Turn imprint with two more deliciously dark slam-jammers. "Imitator" is pure turbine funk a la Ram circa 1998 while "Odyssey" taps more into the Renegade Hardware style of darkness. You could imagine Loxy battering you with this at 3am in The End 20 years ago. No higher comparison.
Review: If there is one thing Trakker hasn't done with this single, it's take a wrong turn, and although Wrong Turn Recordings might be named as such it nevertheless more than comes correct. This two-tracker floats on fire and splutters with sparks, a foghorn laden bass-heavy endeavour which starts of hot and only goes in one direction. We love the scattered breaks of the A-side just as much as we love the B's rolling foundations, and the common thread here is one of delicately made aggressive attitude. Big up.
