Review: What a pleasure it is to see another new collection of heaters from eatmybeat, a label that has consistently blessed the JunoDownload store with heaters since their inception. This time around, Kahter unloads five fireballs, with the steadily stuttering percussion and subs of 'Kord', alongside the groovy rhythmic swoops of 'Round Cell' kicking us off in style. Next, 'Spicule' ties together syncopated percussive pops and moody sublines for even more darkened goodness, with the electro-sounding drum processing of 'Touch' then following in similar fashion. Finally, Kimber takes 'Kord' and reshapes it into a truly defiant creation, fitting into no genre boundaries yet working on so many levels.

Review: It's been a brief minute since we last heard from eatmybeat, a powerful collective focussing primarily on futuristic dubstep energies. This latest collection from Franz plays right into that topic as we open up with the title track 'Boss Moves', a digitised thumper that sets the tone for things to come. We explore dizzying chord delays, mystic woodwind whistles and sweeping subs next on 'Dub Power', with the sounds of 'Fire Burn' then unloading a sumptuous, system-ready march. The EP then closes out nicely with 'Singing Like' a choppy tango through bubbling drum textures and heavily delayed vocal lines, before the reverberated horn lines and catchy progressions of 'Roots Fashion' closes us off in style.

GONE4AMIN (original mix) - (5:50) 132 BPM
Heavy Hitter (Hedchef's Deadweight Recalibration) - (6:52) 136 BPM
Review: Making a sideways move from its signature bass and techno, eatmybeat welcomes 9Trane aka Elliot Lea to the fold. The title track is a low-slung roller, centred on a menacing bass and featuring tripped out MCing. On "MOAT", 9Trane maintains a similar tempo. However, on this occasion, the arrangement centres on fractured drums, with spooky vocal samples that are woven into swirling synth lines. "Trackside" raises the tempo and intensity level, with 9Trane delivering a rolling, bass-heavy techno workout. "GONE4AMIN" meanwhile is a halfway house between electro and techno, with a throbbing bass and rolling break beats providing the basis for urgent siren riffs and chopped up vocal samples.

Review: London-based label eatmybeat returns this week with a new one from Will Shepard aka SPD, who drops his first missive on the label off the back of releases on RKS, Keysound Recordings and Bristol dubplate label ec2a. The Mind At Large EP explores the dark side of UK bass, techno and garage. From the deep medi vibes of opener "Ferment", or the lurking subterranean dubstep of "Mind At Large" to the hypnotic dub chords that meander throughout "B2" - there's also the addition of Bristol's Fonzo and London-dweller Debba on remix duties.

Play Dem Tune (Chad Dubz remix) - (4:11) 140 BPM
All The Massive (Dutchie remix) - (3:37) 135 BPM
Review: The team over at eatmybeat have definitely picked up the habit of formulating top quality releases packages, with each new drop keeping us on the edge of our seat. This brand new selection from BunZer0 is certainly a spicy collection, kicking off with 3 system-ready instrumental creations. First up, we have the marching drums and steppers-style horn lines of 'All The Massive', chased up by the much more mysterious drum arrangements and space-like laser shots of 'Play Dem Tune'. From here, 'Meditation' rounds off the originals with a groovy selection of percussive power and intricate melodies, before we move into two wicked remixes. Firstly, the crunchy drum slaps and sliced up horn manoeuvres of Dutchie's 'All The Massive' rethink hit home with a bang, before Chad Dubz gives 'Play Dem Tune' a dungeon-ready rethink. Awesome stuff!

Illusionist (Kahter remix) - (6:01) 128 BPM

Review: Grubs up! eatmybeat and Soukah cook up a storm right here with this delicious three course feast with two special remix side dishes. Such a banquet was only a matter of time as both artist and label have been cultivating the same exciting leftfield bass pastures for several years. Hot on the heels of his personal and highly explorative 'Art Of The Devil' EP late 2020, each of these cuts bring us back to the dance. 'Illusionist' stutters and slides into dark oblivion with the help of key MC phrases and loose-limbed beats, 'Magnetic Fields' looks to the heavens with its sweeping synth chimes and soft harmonics while 'Puerto Rico' closes on a bashy percussive flex. Complete with exceptional versions from Kahter and WZ, we guarantee you won't feel disillusioned by this 'Illusionist'. Yummy.

Respek The History (feat Rakjay - original mix) - (3:05) 124 BPM
Hidden (Doctor Jeep Steppin mix) - (4:13) 140 BPM
Review: Well well well, what a link up we have here as two of the most consistent forces that operate in that tasty space between dubstep and techno join forces, namely Hypho and eatmybeat. We kick off this absolute winner of an EP by seeing the ever-ready Magugu land for a super rhythmic vocal appearance on 'Flava', which itself combines dungeon-like percussion with warbling subs for a smooth experience. Next, 'Hidden' deploys some incredibly potent drum work below a hypnotic pad and synth combo, giving us a refreshing look at the 130 sound, before Rakjay delivers a top quality vocal performance on 'Respek The History', a worthy title track indeed. Finally, Doctor Jeep arrives to send 'Hidden' to the 2-step blender, bringing a groovy end to this wicked body of work.

Review: It's always a pleasure to see the eatmybeat team back in action, with this latest drop being another stormer in a long line of top quality releases, this time seeing Kinsman land with five sizzling creations. Firstly we dive into the title track 'Surveillance', a moody number driven primarily by its stuttered percussive grooves and plane-like synthetic manoeuvres above, before takes us down a half-time route, this time focussing in on haunted atmospheric pad pressure and more sweeping sub instrumentation. Finally, the more tribalist sounds of 'Escalate' are unveiled to add some additional spice to the selection, before Orson gets busy with a tidy rethink of 'Private Traps', alongside Biome's stunning dubstep overhaul of 'Escalate'.

Viszer (Edetto & Transistor Rhythms remix) - (5:16) 128 BPM Hot
Unsettled (Daylesford remix) - (7:37) 128 BPM
Review: The Yakona duo debut on eatmybeat with a stunning EP. Starting off with the title track's robust, stepping rhythm and hypnotic chimes, it is clear that Terminal is warehouse techno of the highest calibre. On "Viszer", Yakona explore similar but more tripped out territory, with atmospheric textures unfolding over a heaving, tone-shifting bass. "Unsettled" sees them focus on a straighter style, but once again the interplay between light and dark elements is vital, as tranced out melodies unfold over a metallic rhythm. The label has commissioned two fine remixes: Edetto & Transistor Rhythms turn "Viszer" into a malign, big room techno affair, while Daylesford's take on "Unsettled" takes a deeper, more tranced out route.

Spreading Rumours (feat Bluez) - (4:56) 140 BPM
Space Surfer - (5:01) 140 BPM
Review: When we look at some of the fantastic releases that the team at eatmybeat have put together, we struggle to understand why they are not held in much higher regard, with this latest five tracker from Duckem justifying that further. We kick off with the satanic harmonies and rattling subs of 'Loner', followed by a fantastic collaboration between Mob Killa & Rakjay, who provide additional production and vocal support on 'Talk Is Cheap', turning it into a swampy banger. Next, the evil twisted bass synthesis and creative drum work of 'Dat' lands in front of us, before we hit the title track 'Spreading Rumours', which runs as a crunchy steppers original with additional features from Bluez. We then finish up on the sky cruise of an original named 'Space Surfer', which combines shimmering square waves and colourful drum work with wicked results.

WZ & Magugu - "Movin Sharp" (Lamont remix) - (4:21) 89 BPM
Rake (Muttley remix) - (3:14) 138 BPM
Review: As a label, we are always thoroughly impressed with eatmybeat, who have continuously supplied the scene with hard hitting, forward thinking bass music, usually situated around the outskirts of dubstep and UK bass. After a week of exclusivity here on JunoDownload, WZ's 'Movin Sharp' EP is a perfect showcase of the labels capabilities, with the title track being an impactful vocal collaboration alongside man of the moment: Magugu. Other hard hitting tracks include the hypnotic trap-style drum rolls of 'Tamagotchi', the gnarly bass growls of 'Rake' and shuffling rhythmic bliss of 'Sewerage'. We are also gifted two high profile remixes on this one as Muttley gets very busy with his Asian inspired rethink of 'Rake', followed by Lamont's minimal funky overhaul of the title track 'Movin Sharp'.

Review: As a label project, it's always a pleasure to see the eatmybeat collective put out new material, with their record being so packed full of absolute gems. They join forces with the 140 through ball specialist Muttley who allows his Commissioner EP to receive a set of high profile remixes. We first look at TMSV's triplet driven rework of 'No Time', which packs a serious punch, alongside Hypho's magnificently freaky rethink of 'Commissioner'. We then finish up in a blissful explosion of sound with Kromestar's "We Are Done" remix of 'Over' taking centre stage. This one is truly magnificent, from the subtle eski melodies to the pounding subs and expansive atmospheric prowess.
