Review: Having recently featured on Klauselle's Guestlist 02 compilation, Downpour has been tapped for a full release. The title track is an uplifting affair. Inspired by classic house but boasting modern production values, it centres on insistent synths building over rolling drums. "Instinct" follows in a similar vein, with the spirit of Lil' Louis inhabiting the spine-tingling bassline. "Path" is based on a contemporary approach, as Downpour combines synth builds with dubbed out kicks, expertly balancing a sense of depth with dance floor power. The label has commissioned Steve Bug to remix the title track, with the Poker Flat boss weaving building melodies into a slick groove.
Review: Leipzig duo Sven & Sven aka Pornbugs usually release their brand of tech house via their beloved Bondage Records, but appear outside of their comfort zone for a new release this week on Switzerland's klaus:elle. The result is the slinky and hypnotic groove of "Worlds Collide", backed by Ross Kiser's re-rub which firmly keeps the track in the realm of late night mood music. Elsewhere, more sensual afterhours delights away you "Griselda" which also gets reworked, this time by Juli Lee - who injects the track with a bit more dancefloor dynamics.
Review: Peter Waldmann has released many fine EPs as Gorge since debuting 17 years ago, in the process notching up outings on the likes of Freerange, Mobilee, Poker Flat and Plastic City. Here he adds another imprint to his CV via a typically accomplished four-tracker on Klaus:elle. There are two original productions to enjoy: the sumptuous, piano-sporting deep house dreaminess of 'Never Thought' - the kind of lusciously blissful and melodious outing we could imagine appearing on All Day I Dream - and the more tech-tinged late-night hypnotism of 'Darkness', where wiggly acid lines, bubbly electronics and hazy spoken word snippets catch the ear. Elsewhere across the EP, Deetron delivers a driving and fuzzy, but still melody-rich, remix of 'Never Thought' and Marco Berto re-frames 'Darkness' as a breakdown-rich slab of progressive/tech-house fusion.
