James Blake collaborator Rob 'Airhead' McAndrews delivers his first EP for Hemlock in three years, but it has been worth the wait. On "Antipolo", he combines the experimental approach that was audible on his recent release for PS Records, with grey textures and white noise interference underpinned by a dense, shuffling rhythm and dark drums. The track breaks down sporadically to reveal outer space blips and sound effects, but its real strength lies in its loose groove. The title track also features background noise and found sounds, but soon enough raw drums and chattering percussion lead "Shaded" into a rave-fuelled climax. As is always the case with Airhead, Shaded is inventive and unusual.
