Argentina-based producer Alexny has long been one of Furious Mandrill's most reliable and prolific producers. Over the years he's delivered both white-hot re-edits and similarly high-grade original productions. This EP, the first in the label's 'World Series', sits somewhere in between, with the publicity-shy producer combining elements of (mostly obscure) old tunes with his own instrumentation and grooves. He begins strongly with the dusty rocksteady-goes-deep house chug of 'Jah-Jah', before breathing new life into what sounds like a tropical disco-funk workout on 'Start The Music'. 'JO Jojo' is a shuffling, percussion-rich bounce based on (we think) a breezy Afro-funk number, while 'Dostum' is a heavyweight, thickset romp that features electrified Middle Eastern instrumentation and Arabic vocals.Get new release alerts
