Woah! The Black Truffle label have just jumped up a notch in our rankings with this unexpected - and incredibly on-point - reissue of Alvin Curran's 1983 Natural History LP. If you like neo-classical mixed up with noise and electro-acoustic business, then this is kind of like the Holy Grail. In fact, Part 1 actually sounds like something mythical, a crescendo of hymnal voices and fluttering instruments reaching a climax. On the other hand, Part 2 is purely driven by field recordings of port sounds and subtle tweaks of sonic glitches. It is a rather special affair, indeed, and you'll want to hit the DL button because this stuff is impossible to come by on other formats.
