First released way back in 1989, Amedee O Suriam's 'Tension Hot-Shot' is an attractive, in-demand chunk of zouk/hip-house fusion. Sadly, the killer original mix is not featured on this remixed reissue, but the '2022 Mix' sounds like an authentic, subtly spruced-up re-make that utilises the same synth sounds, infectious rhythms, Zouk-specific stylistic touches and (we think) re-recorded vocals. Manoo provides the headline-grabbing remixes, delivering a low-slung, sub-heavy, pleasingly electronic 'Afro-Disco Mix', a stripped-back, early house style 'Club Mix', and a pleasingly tropical 'Caribbean Mix' of 'Roule'. Elsewhere, Black Nation delivers two takes on 'Laissez-Faire': a sparkling, synth-sporting electro-zouk 'dub' and a warmer and more melodious 'club mix'.Get new release alerts
