Review
For the label's debut release, Pantai People have left us in the safe hands of Austin Ato, a producer best known for his outings on Percolate, Futureboogie, Me Me Me and Delusions of Grandeur. As the title suggests, Echo Beach Edits Volume 1 sees Ato sharpen his scalpel and deliver a quartet of suitably sunny, summery reworks with a bouncy, house style twist. He employs spacey effects aplenty on cheery and rushing opener 'Sylvia', before applying his Midas touch - chunky new beats and acid style bass - to a horn-heavy slab of Spanish language disco-boogie gold ('Susanna'). 'Tony' is a breathlessly brilliant, tooled-up rearrangement of a jazzy number rich in energetic piano solos and loopy grooves, while 'Bobby' sees Ato add lashings of rubbery, bottom-end bounce to a soaring disco number.Get new release alerts
