DJ and self-proclaimed 'freestyle dancer' Baronhawk Poitier is the latest artist to sign to San Fran imprint Honey Soundsystem. This three-tracker shows that his approach to production is just as eclectic as his own dance floor moves. "Phakie Phatty" revolves around a stepping rhythm that provides the backdrop for acid squelches and dubbed out chords. On "Lowside Heights", the mood is more tripped out as Poitier lets loose with a gurgling 303 line and low-slung rhythm. Shifting approach once again, "Gasp & Grasp" is redolent of late 90s UK deep house, resounding to broken drums and gloriously spaced out horn stabs.
