Review

Moscow Records is now firmly established as one of tech-house's most consistent labels, with a penchant for cuts that add excitable elements - think warped acid lines, beffy sub-bass, layered percussion sounds, funk-fuelled electronic riffs and cut-up vocal snippets - to peak-time ready grooves that vary from smooth and seductive, to bold and boisterous. For proof, check this excellent compilation of some of the imprint's 2020 highlights. There's much to get the blood pumping throughout, from the off-kilter tech-funk bounce of Dimish's 'Everyday' and the hazy, sub-heavy hypnotism of Luca Donzelli's 'Der Sphere', to the thickset, mind-altering aggression of Archie Hamilton's remix of Peace Division cut 'What Is The Sound' and the garage-influenced wonkiness of Chris Stussy's 'Wake Ning'.
