Review
The mysterious Birdhouse present their debut album, and it's packed with contemporary funk goodness. Tracks like 'Berimbao' and 'Crappy Samba' display a strong Latin influence, 'Sunrise' is pure late 70s west coast jazz-funk, 'Give It To Ya' nudges towards broken beat and leftfield hip-hop, 'Put Yo Feet Up Off The Wall' is brassy and 70s-inspired, 'My Dove' and 'Late Inflate' provide the album's more downtempo moments (the former also sporting a full rap vocal), 'A Star Is Born' takes us into dubby, lounge-y territory ? la Thievery Corporation et al, and then finally 'De Natte' plays us out on a mellower note, complete with Hawaiian guitars.Get new release alerts
