Review:
Listening to MDCCLXXII, it's hard to believe that BNJMN first attracted recognition with his own interpretation of deep house. This release on Counterchange is as pure as techno gets; this is brought home forcefully on the title track, where the UK producer lays down a dense, visceral rhythm amid machine gun bursts of percussion. "Tor" is somewhat less intense, but it does centre on a gnarly bass that pulls the listener down an acid-lined rabbit hole. "T.E.N.S" provides some respite thanks to its frazzled electronics, before BNJMN closes the release with the droning, tripped out "'Where The Wild Berries Grow". The one connection throughout the release to BNJMN's earlier material is the ethereal textures that haunt each composition.
