Alex "Boora" Oleinik made his name as a hip-hop beat-maker, successfully cutting up old Soviet era records on a number of desirable LPs and seven-inch singles. Thru Jazz To Mars marks his debut under the Boorane alias, and sees him expand his musical horizons. Check, for example, the near perfect late night bump of Lay-Far collaboration "Find The Way", the broken beat/U.S-garage influenced dancefloor science of "Floor Work", and the Andres-style jazz-house swing of "V Rytmah Jazza"; all are superb examples of soul-flecked, floor-friendly deep house. Elsewhere, you'll find a smattering of skits, ambient interludes and instrumental hip-hop workouts, plus the spacey, Detroit electro shuffle of the standout "Starlight".
